Thoughts of the Day, let’s do it! Time for the hottest topics of the day in the sports world!
Mike Krzyzewski was very unhappy after?Duke’s loss to Virginia last night, over more than just the game. Coach K complained that college basketball needs to?do more?to protect visiting coaches and players when fans storm the court following an upset win.?He?and assistant coach Jeff Capel both reportedly?yelled curse words at fans as security tried?to get them off the court, and the players also struggled to get to the locker room in the frenzy. Krzyzewski said, “Just put yourself in the position of one of our players or coaches. I’m not saying any fan did this, but the potential is there all the time for a fan to just go up to you and say, ‘Coach you’re a,” or push you or hit you, cheap jerseys. And what do you do? What if you did something? That would be the story. We deserve that type of protection.” This is a tough one to analyze. Do I see Coach K’s side? Yes. He has some valid points when it comes to court?stormings being unsafe. Rushing the court used to be something for an absolutely shocking, “unranked team beats number one” game. Now it’s become, “this team is ranked and we beat them. Let’s run onto the court and jump around.” It’s played out and I’m tired of it. But would he come out and say this if it wasn’t his team losing while the other team rushed the court? Did he ever bring this up before after a court storming in another game on TV? No, and he wouldn’t. There’s some overreacting here, and some hypocrisy. Is your cheering section chanting, “Orphan” at an opposing player a player whose parents died in a fire, or chanting, “How’s your grandma?” when the player’s grandmother died the week before more acceptable than college students celebrating with their school after a big win? You might want to take a look at your Crazies before you complain about another school’,nfl jerseys cheap;s students, coach, cheap jerseys free shipping.

NASCAR suspended Nationwide Series driver Jeremy Clements yesterday for making comments to an MTV blogger after the Daytona 500. We don’t know what was said, but if this was legitimately racially insensitive we all have a good idea of what word was used. But if we don’t know for sure what he said, we really can’t judge him for what a NASCAR officially deemed insensitive. And think about it: if he used the “n-word”, he certainly wasn’t targeting another driver since no African-American drivers were in the Nationwide or Daytona 500. Knowing MTV and its’ irrelevance to NASCAR, Clements made a joke and didn’t think about his word choice until it was too late. It’s happened before in the white-dominated, Southern-based sport, and everyone has gotten past it. I am sure Clements will be forgiven for his slip of the tongue.

Jose Reyes took some shots at his former employer, the Miami Marlins, in a spring training interview this week, and I absolutely loved it. First Reyes pulled a Shaquille O’Neal move and acted oblivious when owner Jeffrey Loria’,cheap nfl jersey;s name was brought up, then called Loria a liar when?Loria denied the accusation that he told Reyes to buy a home in Miami shortly before trading him. Reyes told the New York Times, “He did it during the season, too: ‘Tell Jose to get a nice place in Miami, a good house,’ ” Reyes said. “He always told me that, me and Peter (Greenberg, Reyes’s agent).I don’t know why he said he didn’t say that.” Reyes continued: “You can ask Peter if I’m a liar. Two people are better than one. I don’t have to lie about that. He traded me, that’s fine with me. Just be real with me. Be honest. Don’t tell me to buy a house and get a nice place for my family and stuff when you [know] you’re going to trade me. Why [did] you do that?” I completely support Reyes in this feud. Loria isn’t someone in the baseball world that I am going to trust after he betrayed the city of Miami’s trust by trading the key players he got to fill that stadium. If you lied before, you’re going to lie again, and telling Reyes to buy a nice house in Miami is a potentially costly lie. It’s good that Reyes did not buy a big, fancy house before having to move to Toronto. Crazy story that has had legs over the last few months.

But let’s end on a happy note, and an inspiring story with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Disabled Navy veteran Daniel Jacobs, thanks to Tommy Lasorda, was offered a tryout with LA at their spring training camp. Seven years and three days before, he was serving in Ramadi, Iraq when an IED exploded under him, killing the Marine with him and shattering his body, his left leg amputated in surgery. I respect the Dodgers for this great gesture, and from what I read (the story by the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin is below), it sounds like Jacobs is a good ballplayer as well. Hopefully he is invited to play in another exhibition event to show his skills, cheap nfl football jerseys. Heartwarming story sure to be talked about for a while, and something he will never forget.
