Home in Brooklyn, NY

On the home’s lowest level, concrete floor tiles accentuate the connection between the interior and exterior living spaces.

 

In the lounge on the ground floor, a Flos 265 swing-arm lamp hangs above a blue wool sofa and nesting tables by Muuto.

 

 

Clinton Hill Brownstone by Michael K. Chen Architecture

 

 

Chen framed a new skylight above the top-floor landing with a dramatic, sculptural ceiling recess. A pendant lamp by Lukas Peet hangs over the stairwell.

 

In the couple’s bedroom, a cane sculpture of a bull’s head, which they bought on a trip to Spain, complements a bed dressed with colorful linens from Dusen Dusen Home and a Moroccan rug.

 

Chen designed a new, ribbonlike steel handrail for the staircase that connects the ground and parlor floors.

 

 

A top-floor bathroom is clad from floor to ceiling in fiery red handmade tiles from Heath Ceramics.
