New Year holidays are a very special time for Japanese people. We celebrate the New Year with our family. It's like a Western Christmas holiday. Generally speaking, New Year is 1st ~ 3rd.January, for 3 days. It's called "三賀日(さんがにち)".
正月休みは、日本人にとってとても特別な時間です。私たちは家族で新年を祝います。西洋のクリスマス休暇のようなものです。一般的にお正月と言えば、1st~3rd.January, の3日間を言います。「三賀日(さんがにち) 」とも言います。
We enjoy a special New Year's dish called おせち料理 for these three days. A variety of foods are combined and served colorfully in 3~5 lacquer boxes
私たちはこの3日間、おせち料理という特別な正月料理を楽しみます。さまざまな食べ物が組み合わされて、漆の箱に彩りよく盛り付けられます。
Square stacking boxes of lacquer called "juubako" are stored in 3 to 5 layers. When eating, divide each box and transfer them to a small plate and eat. The various ingredients are considered to be auspicious. They are cooked so that you don't have to cook and can take a rest for 3 days
重箱と呼ばれる、漆の四角い箱を3~5段重ねて保管します。食べる時に、1箱ずつ分けて、それらを小皿に取りながら食べます。さまざまな食材は、それぞれ縁起がいいものと考えられています。3日間は食事を作らず、休めるようにという目的でもあります。

Black beans mean to be healthy.
黒豆は、健康になるという意味です。
Scrolls such as Datemaki and Konbu Maki symbolize the prosperity of culture.
