せっかくの育児中なので、赤ちゃん関係の英語を調べてみました。
まずは赤ちゃん。当たり前ですが…babyですよね(笑)。でも英子さんはなんという言葉で説明するのか興味があるので聞いてみます。
1.a very young child who has not learned to talk yet
フム。お次はハイハイ。動作のイラストページで、赤ちゃんがハイハイする絵をcrawlと言ってます。
1.to move on your hands and knees:The baby crawled towards the fire.
2.if an insect crawls,it moves using its legs
これはハイハイと言うよりは「這う」なのかなぁ。同じ意味だけど聞こえが違うよな…虫がハイハイしてるとは言わないもんなぁ。日本語でいうところの「ハイハイ」はなんだろう？
ま、そんな細かいところばかり気にしてたら進まないので次！
その前にtowards the fireがわからなかったのでそちらもチェック。
towards also toward preposition
going in the direction of someone or something:Helen came running towards them.｜Plants grow towards the light.→see picture on page 354
指示通り354ページの絵を見るとゴルフボールがカップに向かって転がっている様子。
The ball rolled towards the hole.
おぉ！文章を読むより絵を見た方がすぐ納得！～に向かうとかそんな感じね！
