How are you and family going ?
You and your family enjoy Japan ?
I have to answer your question ,what is the meaning of O- Su in KARATE.?
I try to explain with my poor English!
O-Su is made of two Chinese characters O and SU.
Please look at the attached Photo.
SU means patience,bear, endure,stand.
Japanese loves the word patience very much.
Patience is virtue for Japanese.
And patience is a very important in BUDO or KRATE also.
But patience looks negative.
O means push , go out, advance .
O has a positive meaning.
It is important to be patience.
But,at the time of chance,we shoud be go out,and be aggressive and be positive.
Barance of O and Su is very important.
Same meaning is in the Bible
Romans 5:3-5
And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;and perseverance, character; and character, hope.
5Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
