And just like that, Samsung has brought to light yet another member of the ever-growing Galaxy family of smartphones. What does that make, two, three dozens of handhelds released this year alone?
I’ve lost count and am not about to start all over again, so let’s just focus on the “new” Galaxy Win Pro. New on paper, because in reality we’re looking at a cross between the first-gen GWin and the two month-old Galaxy Express 2.
Like the latter, the Win Pro is a 4.5-inch Galaxy S4 Clone with 960 x 540 pixels resolution and roughly 140 grams weight. The similarities are striking in the camera (5 MP rear, VGA front) and battery (2,100 mAh) departments, however the CPUs have very little in common.
Win Pro’s is an unnamed quad-core 1.2 GHz unit probably borrowed from its predecessor, whereas Express 2’s rocks superior clock speed – 1.7 GHz – but a measly two cores.
The on-board storage and RAM are kept under lock and key for the moment, with dual SIM support, pre-loaded Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and a microSD card slot the other Win Pro features set in stone. In short, nothing to write home about, which is why Samsung chose to intro the 4.5-incher in China with little fanfare, likely planning a limited Asian run for the handheld and nothing more.
