의친왕 묘 義親王 墓 Royal Tomb of Imperial Prince Ui 고종황제와 귀인 장씨 사이에서 태어난 의친왕(義親王 : 1877~1955)과 의친왕비 김씨(義親王妃 金氏 : 1878~1964)의 합장묘이다. 의친왕은 1891년에 의화군에 봉해졌고, 1900년에 의친왕에 책봉되었다. 보빙대사와 특파대사의 임무를 수행하였으며 미국에 유학을 하기도 하였다. 1906년에 대한적십자사 총재가 되었으며, 1919년에는 의병 활동을 지원하고 비밀 결사 단체인 대동단에 가담하여 독립운동의 전면에 나서고자 하였으나 실패하였다. 1955년에 세상을 떠나자, 처음에는 화양리에 모셨다가 1965년에 서삼릉 경내로 천장하였고 1995년에 다시 이곳으로 모셔왔다. 의친왕비 김씨는 김사준(金思濬)의 딸로 1893년 의친왕과 혼인하여 1907년에 의친왕비에 책봉되었다. 슬하에 자손 없이 1964년에 세상을 떠났다. 홍유릉 경내에 모셨다가 1995년에 의친왕묘를 천장할 때 의친왕과 합장하였다. This is the joint burial mound of Uichinwang (1877-1955), the son of Emperor Gojong and his concubine Lady Jang, and his wife Lady Kim (1878-1964). He was conferred the title of Prince Uihwa in 1891 and the imperial title of Uichinwang in 1900. He visited Japan and several European countries as a special ambassador before embarking upon a period of study in the United States, and became the president of the Korean Red Cross in 1906. From 1919 he also supported the independence movement and participated in a secret organization named the Daedongdan, but his efforts to achieve national independence ended in failure. He died in 1955, and was initially buried in Hwayang-ri. His grave was moved near to the West Three Royal Tombs in Goyang in 1965, and was relocated to its current site in 1995. His wife Lady Kim, a daughter of Kim Sa-jun, married him in 1893 and was conferred the title of princess in 1907. She died in 1964, having had no children, and was buried in the vicinity of the Hongneung and Yureung Royal Tombs. She was buried together with her husband when the Tomb of Uichinwang was moved in 1995.
