Pictorial Review of Cerebral Venous Thrombosis with Emphasis on Diagnostic Clues and Radiological Patterns

Abstract:
Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is a rare-yet-potentially life-threatening condition characterized by the formation of blood clots within the cerebral venous sinuses and/or veins.
This pictorial review article provides a comprehensive overview of CVT, with a particular focus on diagnostic clues, radiologic patterns, complications, and mimics. Diagnosing CVT can be challenging due to its diverse clinical and radiologic presentations, which often resemble other neurologic disorders. A systematic analysis of imaging findings, including direct and indirect signs obtained from various imaging modalities, can facilitate accurate identification and diagnosis of CVT. Additionally, the discussion on complications and mimics aims to heighten awareness among radiologists and clinicians, promoting timely interventions and improved patient outcomes.
