ある質問に対する私の回答をご紹介しますね。
質問者：
ちょっとした翻訳をしているのですが、
しっくりくる訳ができません。
下線部の文章をどう訳されますか？
マウイはマオリの神話話に出てくる、
太陽を捕まえたマウイという人物です。
Maui had been lost: Lost from life, lost from his mother, lost from death himself.
Seeing that baby, it all made sense to me. I wanted to be a father. I needed the ordinary miracle of a child in my life; and for that son I was willing to do anything – even deny Hine-Nui-Te-Pō to forgo her embrace.
I poured all my love into bringing Maui to life. But he was touched by death, and you can’t deny death forever.
