The Vans and Independent collaboration was established naturally as both brands carry and a long and rich history in skateboarding. Vans delivered the first skate-specific shoe at a time when skaters began to take advantage of Vans’ sticky rubber gum outsole and the custom approach to footwear. Since the early days of the skateboarding scene, Independent Trucks have provided the functional equipment that skaters still rely on to this day. As two original manufacturers in skateboarding, Vans and Independent Truck Company share roots in California and a heritage deeply rooted in the early days of skating’s genesis. Hailing from Santa Cruz, Independent has provided skateboarding hardgoods since the late 70’s, and it's safe to say that there are far fewer skaters today that don’t ride Indy trucks than those who do.
