『最後の夜はジャズ Enjoy Jazz!』

とうとう最後の夜。

充実の時間をすごした上海のしめくくりに選んだのは、和平飯店のジャズバー。

少し早目に行って何かつまみながら待つことにしました。

演奏前ですが、ステージにはドラムやピアノに照明があたっていて、気分がもりあがります。

Finally the last night had come.

To complete my tour, I decided to enjoy jazz at PEACE HOTEL.

I reached the bar before the performance starts, I had some drink and food. The piano, drums and the seats for musicians are illuminated and making good atmosphere.

テーブルチャージがないかわりに、最低150元はオーダーしてね、とのこと。

選んだのは、パイナップルジュースと、

They don't charge for the table but there was minimum order limit 150 Yuan. I chose pineapple juice

春巻セット。

and spring rolls.

ゆっくり食べながら、あわただしかったけど充実していた滞在をふりかえりました。

中国にまた来るのに、こんなに長い時間がかかっちゃったけど、来てよかった。

シンプルな感想だけど、シンプルな気持ちになれた自分がここちよかったりします。

Eating little by little, I was looking back my pleasant stay in Shanghai. It took more than 20 years to go back to China for me. I was hesitating to visit China without special reason. Now I know it was good decision to come to China again. My impression was very simple. And I was happy with the simple mind.

ふんわり幸せな気分にひたっていたら、演奏が始まりました。

The music had begun.

OLD JAZZ BAND PEACE HOTEL

ジャズっていうより、ムード歌謡っぽいと思ってしまいました。たぶん、おじいちゃまたちの雰囲気でそう思ってしまったのでしょう。

「愛と追憶の日々」とか、映画音楽などを演奏していたこともあると思います。

「煙が目にしみる」とか、スタンダードなジャズ・ナンバーもありましたよ。

It was more like easy listening music rather than jazz. I think they played some songs from movies and those made me feel so. They played standard jazz numbers like "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes"

上手いか、と言われれば、ぴかいちではない。

コンディションだって、こんなに響かないウッドベースは初めてです。楽器が古いの。
演奏者たちも、心から音楽の楽しさを表現している、わけではない。。。

でも、気に入りました。

たぶん、上海の和平飯店のこの雰囲気には、これ以外ありえない。

唯一無二の感じが楽しめるポイントなんだと思います。

The music they played was not really special actually. The instruments are not in very good condition. Some are little too old. The musicians didn't look so happy to play.

However, I enjoyed a lot.

I think any other band can match for the Peace Hotel like that. They are the band for the place. Only the right combination can make that atmosphere.

時間にも、空間にも、余裕を感じます。

ロビーでもないただの廊下に、これだけの空間。このゆったり感が、和平飯店。

今度は泊まってみたい。

最後の夜は、素敵なところでおいしいものを食べて、音楽を楽しんで、リラックスしてしめくくることができました。

The hotel has special beauty. It has huge space without efficiency but gorgeousness with elegance.

I would like to stay here next time.

It was good choice for the last night.

夜９時すぎ。

地下鉄を降りて、ホテルまで２～３分。

毎日せかせか歩いた歩道ですが、このときは上海の空気を楽しみながらゆっくり歩きました。

そのときになって、ふと、すこし反省。

ひとりぼっちで外国にいて、こんなに楽しく満足していてよいのでしょうか･･･？

本当は、もうちょっと不安になったり、心細かったり、するんじゃない？

ジャズ・バーだって、素敵な殿方にエスコートされている方がよいでしょう。

不慣れな土地の、夜道の一人歩きなのに、満ち足りてリラックスしていていいのかなぁ？

また、ひとりなのに、存分に楽しんでしまった。

楽しかったんだから、まぁ、いいか。

It was little after 9 o'clock, I was walking along the street from subway station to my hotel. I had been walking here rapidly everyday but this time I was walking relaxed.

Then, I felt little funny.

I'm alone in foreign country. How can I relax and satisfy like this? I supposed to feel lonely. I prefer to have a guy to escort me to go to jazz bar. If I can enjoy alone like this, I don't think I can get a partner...

Anyway, it's better to be able to enjoy. It was nice tour to Shanghai.
