Maggs was inspired by an 1855 series of photographs that Nadar took of Pierrot, a celebrated pantomime artist. Maggs, restaged these photographs but with himself as the sitter. Understanding now that Maggs, an artist known for his meticulous attention to detail, took these images knowing that there was a good chance he wouldn't be here to take a bow, makes one react differently to these pictures to when he was alive. Throughout Contact, a fullon head shot of Maggs as Nadeau the clown prince is used to promote the show. White face. Enigmatic twinkling eyes. White outfit. Red and black chapeau. But the better aurevoir is Maggs as Nadeau, the mime photographer. Box camera on stilts. A gleam in the eye. The silent performer who wants his lens to speak for him!
The strapless dress also still holds its own, for bridal gowns and for evening dresses. Many, if not most, of the dresses for spring 2011 are strapless, an elegant style that emphasizes the neck and shoulders in a classically feminine way. A strapless bridesmaid dress that has been properly fitted to its wearer is one of the most flattering styles around. Just be sure to invest in a quality strapless bra!
are probably the only country on the planet which continues to use such titles. I blame the education system for this problem. As children, we are asked to write a lot of formal letters, which are not relevant in this time and age. Mehra even gets into details of good grooming.
The dress I just finished yesterday is a Titanic inspired evening dresses sale. Noelle's inspiration was the Swim dress from the movie, but with darker palette and a sequined black sari as the highlight, I deviated a bit with the addition of a sheer kimono sleeve trimmed with beaded tassels. I hope she is the Belle of the Ball!
I haven grown out of poop humor. Thankfully, Kristen Wiig hasn either. Her diarrhea scene in this summer kickoff comedy, was a hysterical, epic mess of bowel movements in formal wear brilliantly played out by Wiig and her Night Live pal Maya Rudolph. There Rudolph stands, in an overpriced designer wedding gown. Suddenly, she takes off into the street looking for a safe place to deal with the aftermath of tainted Brazilian barbecue. But she doesn make it far. She squats in the middle of a public road, giving in to the urge, still wearing her perfect dress as a sweating Wiig tries to avoid the same fate. It was my No. 1 movie moment of the summer. Well, actually, let call it No. 2.
