I am blogging now to share my idea on making yourself happy with your life. I am writing on it in both English and Japanese so that you will be able to learn English if you'd like to.
Okay, here comes my topic... I've been training myself on appreciating what I have and at the same time on not complaining about what I don't have. I tend to complain about what I don't have and bring myself down, which is sad I know but this became kind of habit. I am really ambitious to improve myself but this influenced in a bad way on how I see my surroundings. This really brings me down so I decided to appreciate what I have no matter how small it would be.
For example, I went to a bookstore and bought some books I would like to read. Yes, this is the regular things to do as you are in Japan, but wait, think about it. I was able to buy books because there is a bookstore, there are authors who wrote them, and you have money to spend on them. As I bought the books, I actually say in a small voice that I really thank everything that contributed to me buying these books and felt really happy and honored.
There's a story behind it. I have a friend from high school, who went to Yobiko(Japanese academies for preparing for university entrance exams) with and studied together to get into medical schools. We passed the entrance exams and and entered different universities. Sadly, the friend died about a year after she began to go to university.
I had been saying like "I'm bored, bored, bored to death." I really meant it at the time, I was so bored.
My dad said,"You should be ashamed of yourself. Do you remember R-chan, right? Could you say that directly to her? Are you serious? She would reply to you that "I wish I had more time to live. Please don't say that. Use our time happily and appreciate the fact you are alive and have enough time to spend."
At the time, I really got ashamed of myself and realized that how stupid I was. I should appreciate the fact that I get to live and the things I have. I still think it important that you feel you want to improve yourself and go to the next better level but at the same time we all should appreciate what we have and take a pause to think why we get to have them.
If you think the surroundings you are in are against you, you could change glasses you wear to see your environment and would be able to see the world in a different way!!!
It's been a long time since I was seated in Kotatsu, which is Japanese traditional heating equipment and at the same time is a table with a heating inside, and watching Kohaku-utagassen, that is a years-long tv program by NHK, the national TV company.
It was pretty peaceful moment spending a new year with my beloved family.
While I was in London and NY, I realized how beautiful Japanese ppl' mind was but how shameful ppl outside Japan and also Japanese ppl, themselves don't realized that. Our hospitality, full of customer-focused service spirit, we have a lot of thing we can proud of.
However, we are lack of they call hungry spirit that makes Japanese ppl lame.
Sadly, ppl in the world think that Japanese ppl cannot speak English and we are left behind in the world.
I don't know what I can but I want to improve Japanese ppl's English and Pronunciation in some ways
Today I am blogging to ask for your small courtesy of help. I am now looking for a lot of ideas and information about what you hope/wish you have around you. I'd be so glad as you give me from a tiny idea to a huge one.
You might be a student who is learning English as I have blogged about English and the learning know-how or you might be a housewife who is also blogging like me.
No matter who you are, your small courtesy will be welcomed
