Police presence at UCLA demonstration encampment after clashes between protesters. Violence broke out between pro-Palestinian protesters and a group of counterprotesters at the University of California, Los Angeles, hours after dozens of activists were arrested at Columbia University in New York. UCLA’s student newspaper, the Daily Bruin, reported that about 100 pro-Israel counterprotesters attempted to disrupt the university’s Gaza solidarity encampment just after 10.50pm on Tuesday. The counterprotesters set off fireworks and irritant gases were released from both sides, according to the paper.
