2025年から生産へフォルクスワーゲン" フォルクスワーゲングループ（Volkswagen Group）は
10月7日、
EV向けバッテリー製造のための合弁会社「IONWAY」が、
最初の工場をポーランドに設立し、
2025年からバッテリーの生産を開始すると発表した。
合弁会社の最初の工場では、
市場動向を踏まえながら、2
020年代末までにバッテリーの年間生産能力を160GWhに引き上げることを目指す。
これは、220万台分のEVに搭載できるバッテリーだ。
IONWAYは、フォルクスワーゲングループのバッテリー製造会社「PowerCo」と、
ベルギーの循環素材テクノロジーグループ「Umicore」が合弁で設立した。
ヨーロッパにおいて、
バッテリーの前駆体や
カソード素材を生産するのが、
合弁会社設立の目的だ。
2025年以降、この合弁会社は、
PowerCoが運営するヨーロッパのバッテリーセル工場に主要な素材を供給する。
カソード活物質は、
バッテリー性能の重要な技術的要素であると同時に、
バッテリー全体のコストの最大の部分を占めているため 、
パワートレインをe-モビリティへ移行させるために不可欠という。
合弁会社での生産は、
2025年に開始される予定だ。
生産された素材はまず、PowerCoのザルツギッター工場に供給される。
フォルクスワーゲングループは2026年には、
年間生産能力が 40GWhに達すると見込んでいる
