カナダのジャスティン・トルドー（Justin Trudeau）首相が2日、米国のドナルド・トランプ（Donald Trump）大統領の直近の言動について記者からコメントを求められ、記者団を前にしばらく言葉を詰まらせる様子を見せた。 コメントが求められたのは、前日にトランプ大統領がホワイトハウス（White House）近くのセントジョンズ（St Johns）教会で写真撮影に臨んだ際、近くで行われていた抗議デモの参加者を排除する目的で催涙ガスが使用されたことについてだった。トルドー首相は、カメラの方向を見つめたまま20秒ほど沈黙し、その後「私たちはゾッとしながら…驚がくしながら米国で起きていることを見ている」と言葉を絞り出した。映像はカナダ民放CTV提供。
