The work ethic is deeply ingrained. We all tend to feel that if we aren't making a lot of effort, putting ourselves to a great deal of inconvenience and paying a high price in terms of personal sacrifice, then we are not really earning whatever we are getting. We also tend to assume, that if we are not getting anything at all, we are simply not trying hard enough to attain it. But, once in a while, good things really do come out of nowhere. You may not feel you deserve this week's boon but you're going to get it anyway!
