oh good heavens!
note to self: stop eating food around the laptop. my keyboard has been seeing crumbs and bits of chocolate lately, especially in between the keys. i need to stop indulging! 
today was extremely difficult.
first day of summer program and i tried everything to keep the kids entertained. first we started off with about 5-6 ice breakers and energizers. my group of kids is very introverted so they never want to participate in games that involve talking! how frustrating is that?!
we also made up a group name. they couldn't come up with anything, so when i suggested "afro army"...many laughed and thought it was funny. others didn't get it and sat there with pouty faces. too bad! the majority wanted "afro army" and so it stuck. i had them draw a picture of themselves with an afro. we then stuck those onto a large sheet of paper and hung it up on the cafeteria wall along with the other groups' posters.
after all that junk, all the groups got together and played a round robin of "olympics". we played celebrity, ping pong relay (almost like egg and spoon race), and dodgeball. there were other games but there wasn't enough time during the rotation. then before you knew it, the day was over.
all in all, i was disappointed in my performance because all i heard from the kids all day was, "i'm bored!!!" i really tried my best and watched as all the other groups seemed to be having more fun than mine. at the end of the day, the staff did check ins and surprisingly, everyone mentioned that all the other groups seemed to be having fun while their own groups weren't motivated. how interesting of an outcome is that? every staff member had a rough day. i'm hoping that this won't last because if it does, i swear i will go insane
ugh, tomorrow is going to be such a challenge. i'm not ready to take care of 15+ kids for 3 consecutive hours. pray that my day goes well tomorrow please?!
oh! but on the flip side, i received two things in the mail. one was a gift from my "sister" ( a red russ k bracelet) and the other was a pair of shoes i ordered on sale (originally $220 but i got them for $150). that realy brightened my day. then after work, i went to check out the wave organ with my co worker. it was really awesome just sitting there and listening to the pipes. for those who want to know what it is, you can google it: wave organ in san francisco.
while at the wave organ, i met two lovely ladies who were taking pictures with a fancy looking camera. they struck up a conversation with me and we took pictured together lol. i fb'd her so hope she accepts my friend request.

nothing eventful
today is sunday, the day before summer program begins. oh yeah, did i for get to mention i'll be leading my own summer camp group this year? yes! i will be working this summer with 18 kids in a group taking them on field trips and doing various projects with them. summer camp will last 1 month, so i won't have a break until after july 17.
i'm really nervous and hoping that all 18 kids will not show up for my group. my boss told me that we're so short staffed this year that all staff members will NOT have a chance to use the restroom during work hours! the reason for this is because the ratio of students to staff will not allow that. we have 180 students and 10 staff members. each group will be doing different things everyday, so it's impossible to leave our group in the care of another leader. this bothers me greatly because i tend to drink lots of fluids throughout the day. i am definitely NOT looking forward to that at all.
i just finished watching high school musical 3 on tv. i didn't like the first or second one very much, but the third installment was a little interesting. maybe it's cuz it was their senior year and they were graduating, so it gave it a sense of closure. with the other ones, you knew there would be another sequel. very enjoyable but some of the songs made me fall asleep.
oh i just thought of something to add to my 'to do" list: find out how to upload pictures on here and stick them into my blog entries. that's gonna take some time and patience as i cannot read, write, or speak japanese. there's this girl who posted a tutorial somewhere in english, but i forgot where to find it. oh well...
anyway, my dad and sister just came home and bought me strawberry jello! yummy! i'm going to eat that and watch movies all day hehe. ttyl!
