Former Scotland captain Greig Laidlaw made the statement on his international retirement.
He participated in RWC for three consecutive tournaments. Scotland team came to stay in Nagasaki for their camp base and their team welcome ceremony was held at Glover Garden. I was previledged to be MC for Scotland Team. When he entered the ceremony venue, his seat was at the first row. A week before the ceremony, I was doing research for members of Scotland. I happened to watch Greig Laidlaw who was Interviewed by Sho Sakurai on Youtube. This scrum-half player has been one of the highest rating international kickers. When he was standing at his seat at the ceremony, we kept looking at each other. Of course he does not know me. But at my unconscious level, I made a slight bow to him.
I watched every single Scotland game and study his great play at the fields. Honestly I feel sad that he won’t be part of the international games anymore. I admire his dedication to his team not only as captains but also as scrum half player.

セレモニーの1週間前に、櫻井翔くんがレイドロー代表にインタビューした様子を動画で見たり、どんな選手か自分なりに事前にリサーチしていて感服したことは、精度が高く正確なキッカーとしてチームの司令塔な選手ということです。セレモニーでは最前列にレイドロー氏が着席されて近距離で拝見できたこと嬉しかったです。何よりも、スコットランドチームの試合も見てきたので、今後のラグビーワールドカップでプレーの姿が見れなくなるのはさみしい気持ちもありますが、次のステージで活躍される彼を楽しみにしております！
