There are pearl study courses in GIA, however, I always wanted to study in depth for this area.
Pearls are considered to be the oldest jewelry in the world as you might be aware.
One impressive part of this lecture is to learn that pearls have been popular from long ago not only they are living mineral but they have "Teri" in pearls.
This typical word to describe "Teri" in pearls are only among Japanese people. It is also different from "luster". If "luster" is described as light's reflection from pearls, "Teri" means light reflecting from inner parts from pearls which is called interference color.
For example, beautiful color from peacock wings are coming from interference color. The course I take this time is to study this "Teri" in depth.
Interference color's mechanism in pearls are necessary to know pearl's layer structures first so I am going to write this later.
It is also fun to study Diamond but inner truth of pearls knowledge is also deep.
Diamond are minerals coming from deep part in the ground and pearls are living minerals coming from the sea every year so different knowledge is necessary to study jewelry as a rule which is very interesting.
