クリスマスが終わり、もう５日間たったのにまだ我が家のクリスマスツリーは飾ってままだ。（笑）
なので。。
今日はクリスマスツリーを片付ける日だ！！
まずは、一つ一つ全てのオーナメントを外していかなければならない。一般のアメリカ人のお宅とは少し違い、我が家はお店に行って華やかなボール型のオーナメントを一斉に買うのではなく、長年かけて少しずつ集めてきたオーナメントを毎年飾る。例えば、様々な旅行先で買ってきたもの、私たちが住むテキサスのテーマのもの、そして母が子供の頃アメリカに住んでいた頃に少しずつ集めたオーナメントなど色々だ。
我が家にとって、オーナメントというのは飾りというより、家族の大切な思い出の詰まった宝物だ。

It has already been 5 days since Christmas, and our family still has not put out our christmas tree
,which is why, we decided to put it away today.
We first took up all of the ornaments. Unlike most families/people, our family does not go to stores and buy a bunch of fancy ornaments every christmas. We have collected them over a long period of time, which explains why we have so many ornaments varying from different themes, shapes, to sizes.
For example, we have ornaments from my mother's childhood, from our family trips, and more.
One of the things that makes our Christmas tree unique and special is a collection of Texas themed ornaments.

While most families believe that making their tree "The" ideal christmas tree by putting fancy bows and decorative ornaments is important, we do not. We believe it is more important to have it full of precious memories and treasures. Of course, everyone has different beliefs and I respect each and every one of them.
However, to those who live overseas or lives in Japan, I advise you to collect ornaments and buy ornaments wherever you go. Each christmas will be like a gallery for all of your adventures and memories that you will be able to remember each and every year.
While looking through all of my ornaments, it made me feel sad to think that my American life is soon coming to an end. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday or christmas.
