MOSCOW, PESARO AND BERGAMO CONTINUE THEIR STRING OF SUCCES
In the women’s IECL, Russian Dinamo MOSCOW defeated last year’s runner-up RC CANNES 3:1 after having beaten the French in Cannes last week in straight sets, making Ekaterina Gamova & Co. the undisputed leader in Pool A.Azerrail BAKU lost their home match in Pool C against Eczacibasi ISTANBUL (TUR) 1:3.In Pool D, Croatian Mladost ZAGREB lost their fourth match in a row. Nobody expected them to beat the Italian favourite Foppapedretti BERGAMO who has won the IECL 2004/05 and came third last year. On the final day of the fourth leg, Winiary KALISZ (POL) booked a outstanding victory over Spar TENERIFE Marichal (ESP), bouncing back after having lost the first set and making up a leeway of 11-17 in the second set. “We were better than last week”, commented Polish coach Igor Prielozny. “The key to success was the fact that after the first set we have managed to control the most efficient players from TENERIFE, Neslihan Darnel and Logan Tom.”
Girone A: 女子IECLでは、ロシアのDinamo MOSCOWが、先週、Cannesで、フランスをストレートで敗った後、去年の第2位チーム、 RC CANNESを負かして、Ekaterina Gamova & Co.は、Pool Aで不敗のリーダーとなった。
Girone C: Azerrail BAKUは、Pool Cのホーム戦で、Eczacibasi ISTANBULに3-1で負けた。
Girone D: Pool Dでは、クロアチアのMladost ZAGREBが、4連敗した。IECL 2004/05に優勝し、昨年は第3位となった、 イタリアの優勝候補チーム、Foppapedretti BERGAMOを彼女達が敗るなんて、誰も期待していなかった。第5戦目最終日に、 Winiary KALISZは、第1セットを落とした後、立ち直って、第2セットでは、11-17の苦境を乗り越えて、Spar TENERIFE Marichalに、 実に素晴らしい勝利を記録した。”先週よりも良かったです”－とポーランドのコーチ、Igor Prieloznyはコメントした。 ”成功の鍵は、第1セットの後、なんとか、TENERIFEの最も有能な選手達、Neslihan Darnel and Logan Tomをコントロールする事が出来た事でした。”
