林ナツミ『本日の浮遊』展 2013年3月26日(火) - 3月31日(日) スパイラルガーデン
Natsumi Hayashi 『Today's Levitation』Exhibition March 26-31, 2013 at Spiral Garden Omotesando
Natsumi Hayashi's second solo show in Japan supported by une nana cool
"I’m trying to express myself in the series as someone free from Earth’s gravitational pull.
In being free of gravity in the photographs, I am also not bound to societal conventions.
I feel as though I am not tied to many things and able to be my true self…
It is clear that such my feeling is only an illusion,
but I hope that the illusion can be converted into reality and
fixed in the photographs piled up as a diary open to the public"
- Natsumi Hayashi
I'm quite lucky to have Trish around Tokyo who likes this artist as well
so we managed to check out her exhibit on the last day!
At first, we thought that the small shop by the entrance door selling
the artist's photobook, postcards, etc. was the "exhibit" they were advertising at TimeOut Tokyo.
But then, when we decided to check the place before hitting the road for Harukaze at Yoyogi,
we were taken aback that there was more beyond the shop and cafe by the entrance hall.
Navigating our way inside,we were greeted by Natsumi Hayashi's life size 3D portraits,
a huge panorama shot, a couple of special framed works and two humongous, 6x8m pieces.
Luckily, we were allowed to take pictures (which rarely happens on other exhibitions I've been to before)!
So, here you go . . .
