thoughts that count

Last Friday, I noticed my Boss' X'mas present placed on top of my table.
(Boss from another department)

I saw her moments after and expressed my gratitude with a simple "Thank You".

Now her reply made me curious.

She said something like,

"You're Welcome! "

"You know, the moment I saw that I was reminded by you."

(・_・;)

Now that's weird.

We were never close since she's the typical rigid boss. Yet, I had this one time

heart-to-heart talk with her a year ago after the news of my Dad's death.

It was her who soothe and gave me comforting words one afternoon at school.

Anyway, going back to the present.

Since my hands were itching yesterday morning around 1:00am

(yes, I still wasn't asleep),

I started opening my presents including the one she gave.

That's when it dawned on me what she was talking about.

She gave me this cute pen with Japanesque looking doll attached to the end.

P.S.

I didn't expect her to notice my fascination with the Japanese culture.

Nonetheless. I'm still thankful.

Thankful to have a bunch of thoughful people around me.
