Last Sunday I had this conversation with my mom.
MORNING::
Mom: “You want me to talk to Jason’s Aunt in Tokyo
and ask her to invite you there for 6 months?
Well of course you have to get your own apartment and look for a part-time job.”
Benj: “Hmmmmmm……… Very enticing, that would be a very nice idea
but I heard from my friend Hitomi it COST A LOT to live in Tokyo.
I don’t think I can afford that.
Plus, I stopped taking up Japanese class for 3 years so obviously,
I can’t construct Japanese sentences anymore.
Meaning, if I try to move there I have to take up Japanese class (another expense).”
Mom: “Just try it.”
Benj: “ . . . . .. . . .I don’t know. Let’s see. I’ll check some Universities there first and
check out scholarships offered. I might take into consideration
studying there as well if that’s the case. “
Mom: “Good.”
Benj: “I’m a dead meat.”

MIDDAY ::
Mom: “Oh! You know (inserts name) ?”
Benj: “Nope. Why?”
Mom: “She’s working for a certain company at Okinawa now.”
Benj: “Oh.”
Mom: “She finished a course related to architecture.”
Benj: “Mmmmmm. . . . .” (I wonder what Mom is thinking now. . .)

Later that EVENING ::
Mom: “Jam, why don’t you take up Aeronautical Engineering?”
Benj: “Huh? I wanted to take up Aeronautics as a kid but another 4-5 year course?”
(I thought she wanted me to pursue a Masters Degree?)
Mom: “Oh. It’s your fault you took up BS Psychology. A course too girly.”
Benj: “Noooooooooooooo, it’s not.”
(It’s not a girly course. Besides, if it’s a girly course so what? I’m not a boy to worry over that~)
Mom: “Well it might be helpful if you’ll pursue working for an industrial company.
You can ascend from rank to rank and even get a VP position
but it you want to stick to Education then you need a M.D. to have an edge.”
Benj: “. . . . . Alpha female syndrome. Long have it left my veins.
I don’t know what to say. I’ll think over the OPTIONS you’ve given me *Meie.”
