 『 the Missing Piece 』

- NO STORY SITS BY ITSELF -

I hate to say something against the government I’m under but it seems to me that 50% of the government funds are not properly distributed to its people. The simple thought of inappropriate distribution due to lack of reflection on the matter and deliberation of different parties is maddening to a citizen like me. For what’s the use of electing a brilliant person who gained a double degree on this and that or graduated from prestigious university in the Philippines or abroad if he or she can’t put aside his or her personal intentions.

Take for example the prisoners inside Muntinlupa.
Each prisoner is given a budget of Php35.00 for their meal a day.
Again, that’s Php35.00 for breakfast, lunch and supper.
Php35.00 A DAY.

Unbelievable.
I was totally dismayed upon hearing this.
We are talking about male prisoners here. I don’t want to be tactless but let’s face it.
Males have bigger appetites than females. How do you expect them to be stuffed with only a cup of rice per meal.

35 pesos? What can you buy with that to sustain 3 meals?
It would be more acceptable if they say 35 per meal but NO, its per day.
So divide 35 by 3.

Whoever came up with such budget is a complete IDIOT!
Call me harsh, then go!
But I am so sick of hearing all those “Fertilizer Fund”, “ZTE Scam”, “Bags of Million being brought by an official abroad on a vacation”, etc.

They keep on saying that the government has a limited budget but how come they are able to release millions on unreliable projects. Well I can see the whereabouts of some of the tax payers’ money like in terms of road-widening at SLEX or new infrastructures but that’s just 25% of it. How about the remaining funds? Though they’re distributed to different sectors, it’s either not enough or over funded.

It’s a pity that in spite the efforts of other well-intentioned politicians, dirt manages to mix due to a few crooked ones.
