Music Review: Sel’m - brilliant force

I’ve never heard of Sel’m before and I can’t begin to imagine what their name could stand for, but they’ve got the former Girugamesh vocalist onboard, so why not give’em a shot when my dear readers recommend them?
I like how they begin pleasantly quiet with “Erase the cast”, until the song takes off. I also like “Loyd”,one of their singles, because it has some short instrumental partsfilled with a little but so beautiful melody interlude, and vocalistTora delivers some really good verses. “Akatsuki” reminds me of sub-par GazettE mixed with quite a lot of Giru-likemetalness, which is where Tora’s vocals seem to fail him here and then. He’s stronger when he’s singing the higher notes - perhaps that’s why Girugamesh separated from Tora.

“Shingigan” is another fast-paced, heavy song with brutal verses and a very lovely chorus. Possibly the best song on the whole album. “Spiral world” has some sort of haunted feeling, which is good, but they lose me with that frickin’ bad chorus. “Oriental Lily”is ambitious, but only sparkles for so long before it descends intotriviality. Like much of the rest of this album, which is nowhereawful, nowhere great.
They could have made a great mini album of this CD without the manyaverage, forgettable songs. I also feel a lot of imbalance in the soundquality of the songs, which range from poor production to very goodmastering. Not so brilliant for an album which has “brilliant” in itstitle. Go for Sel’m, though, if you’re into Girugamesh, the GazettE, and similar bands Sel’m apparently also seem to like.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I see a distinct line among GazettE, Girugamesh and Sel'm's MUSIC style.
hmmmmm. . . .
their music reminds me more of D'espairsRay . . .
but. . .
ahhhhhhhh . . . .
I dunno~
their music style is differnt from Giru though like what the article said there's this Giru-metalikeness that must have been the common denominator between them~
but ~
ahhhhhhhh . . . .
its totally different in my opinion~
