年越しそば

年越しそばは文字上からは、
旧年を送り新年を迎えるという
意味になりますが、本来は
蕎麦はその細く長い形状から
長寿を象徴したものとして
大晦日に食べるものです。

“Toshikoshi”means seeing out the old year
and seeing in the new year. Soba is the
buckwheat noodle and eaten on New Year’s
Eve（大晦日）because the long thin noodles
are the symbol of longevity（長寿）.

因みにこの蕎麦の原料の約８０％は、中国、
ブラジル、カナダからの輸入に頼っている
そうです。
