「Good Time」や「Verge」など、最近のOwl Cityはただのテクノポッパーになっていますが、僕は初期の頃の彼の曲がとても好きです。
まだ見ぬ大きなオモチャ箱を開く時のような、少年の頃に戻ったかのようなワクワク感が、Owl Cityの曲にはあると思います。
題名の「Alligator Sky」はもちろん、「ワニ空」と読むのは間違いです。
解読するには、ちょっとだけ想像力が必要です。
アメリカに「American Alligator（別称：ミシシッピワニ）」というワニがいます。
このワニはアメリカの広い地域で生息しているんですが、あの有名な場所にも住んでいます。
それが「NASA（アメリカ宇宙航空局）」です。
つまり、「Alligator Sky」とは
NASAに住むワニたちが見上げる空
つまり、
宇宙への玄関口
という訳です。
単に「宇宙」というよりも、「NASAから見上げる大空」の方が、
同じ意味なのによりワクワクしませんか？
