Christmas Bliss and the Festivities: The Ladies Verses The Moms
Ladies, are the throughly modern women - employed and self-confident. They congregate in the living room or parlor. To be a throughly modern women, your mannerism must be throughly Victorian. (Smiling, while verbally destroying your "opponents" in a very polite manner. Pose and posture is always the rule.) This often becomes comical, when they have had too many "licks" of wine. Wine acts as a verbal lubricant, often loosening the tongue -- making for some interesting and quite revealing comments.
The moms on the other hand, never really hide what they are thinking -- and will not hesitate to tell you, when they disapprove. The demeanor is such, that the (aptly named) "hen-pecked" husband, is clearly visible. Even, the most harden veteran, of the fabled table, treads lightly. The kitchen is not a place of relegation - but a domain that must be respected. One glance from "The Mom" of the kitchen, and the dutiful veteran (of the fabled table) beckons and obeys. The Mom is the mom, the younger moms want to be, and other veteran moms compete with.
So who wins? The moms, and the evidence is on the couch. In the age divide among the ladies, the mournful older ladies are there with their -- moms!
