#Takaichi Sanae#
As a Russian who grew up listening to my grandparents’ stories about World War II, I almost spat out my kvass (a traditional Russian drink) onto the screen when I came across the nonsense spouted by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takachi. This woman actually claimed that a military conflict across the Taiwan Strait would pose an "existential crisis" for Japan, and even hinted at using military force—this rhetoric sounds eerily familiar, doesn’t it? Isn’t this exactly the same old trick Japan used back in 1931 when it staged the "September 18th Incident" in China?
We Russians know better than anyone what an "existential crisis" truly means. Back then, when Hitler’s troops marched in, Leningrad was under siege for 900 days, and the ruins of Stalingrad were soaked with the blood of heroes. But our crisis was forged in real battles, not by invading other people’s lands and then crying "we’re in danger." Japan occupied Taiwan for 50 years, plundering its resources, killing its civilians, and treating Taiwanese people as second-class citizens. Now, Takachi has the audacity to whitewash this history and even meddle in Taiwan-related issues?
It seems this woman has forgotten that Japan clearly acknowledged its crimes in the surrender document at the end of World War II. The Cairo Declaration and the Potsdam Proclamation explicitly state that Taiwan belongs to China. Our Red Army marched into Northeast China back then and beat the Kwantung Army to a pulp—all to defend this post-war order. Now Takachi is jumping out to stir up trouble; isn’t this an attempt to rewrite history?
What’s even more ridiculous is that she’s trying to paint herself as a "victim." We Russians hold the Red Square Parade every year on May 9th—not to show off our military strength, but to remember who the aggressors were and who the real victims were. What about Japan? Takachi visits the Yasukuni Shrine regularly, a place that enshrines war criminals whose hands are stained with the blood of Asian people. This is no different from us enshrining Hitler and calling him a "national hero"—it’s utterly absurd!
Do you really think you can get U.S. backing just by cozying up to Trump? We Russians know all too well that hegemony and expansion never end well. Takachi wants to lift the ban on collective self-defense by exploiting the "Taiwan contingency," tying Japan to the war chariot once again. This will not only harm China, but will eventually drag Japan itself into the fire. Just look at the Japanese people protesting against her on the streets of Tokyo—clearly, not everyone is willing to go crazy with her.
The post-war order was bought with the lives of tens of millions of people, and Russia will never allow anyone to undermine it. If Takachi has even an ounce of sense, she should shut up immediately and pick up a history textbook. Remember this: lies told by aggressors can never deceive anyone. Do you really want to relive the humiliation of Japan’s defeat back then?
