Forever a DORK!!!

Because of football I haven't written a blog in days!!!!

*pfffft*

Anyway... I will write a blog either tonight or tomorrow!!!! ^^
Finally... the last group of the tournament!!!

m(_._)m

I am bored... my wrists hurt... and... I want an Ice Cream (>_<)

Group D -> England, France, Ukraine and Sweden

England -> is one of the best European teams. Don’t even know where to start from. In the Euro cup England hasn’t been very lucky as it has only reached the 3rd place of the tournament in 1968 and 1996. The English league is the strongest in Europe and has produced legendary names such as Peter Shilton, Sir Robert “Bobby” Charlton, Robert “Bobby” Moore, Bryan Robson, Gary Lineker, Jimmy Greaves, Tom Finney, Vivian Woodward, Willian “Billy” Wright, Sir Stanley Matthews, Duncan Edwards, Roger Byrne, Gordon Banks, Geoff Hurst, Martin Peters, Colin Bell, Allan Clarke, Norman Hunter, Allan Ball, Kenny Sansom, Terence “Terry” Butcher and Glenn Hoddle amongst many more; but you cannot ignore the 90’s generation with players like Alan Shearer, David Seaman, Gary Neville, Tony Adams, David Platt, Paul Gascoigne, Edward “Teddy” Sheringham, Jamie Redknapp, Steve McManaman, Phil Neville, Sol Campbell, David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Michael Owen, Frank Lampard, Jamie Carragher, Owen Hargreaves and Joe Cole. This year the team wasn’t very promising barely passing the qualifying rounds with a poor performance of 5 wins, 3 draws and 0 losses. This year’s team is the third youngest and although it has a few heavy names that are included in the roster most players have very few caps in their resume. Steven Gerrard and John Terry will try to carry England to a victory alongside with Joe Hart, Robert Green, Glen Johnson, Ashley Cole, Joleon Lescott, Phil Jagielka, Theo Walcott, Ashley Young, James Milner, Stuart Downing, Jermain Defoe and Wayne Roonie. On the UEFA European Football Championship listing England has 113 points with 63 wins, 31 draws and 19 losses.

France -> has won the Euro cup twice in its history at 1984 and 2000. Other noticeable positions are two fourth places in 1960 and 1996. I don’t like the French so I really haven’t followed the team or the home league very much. All the knowledge I have about the team is after 1996 and that is mostly in her style of play which is offensive with a good middle but vulnerable defense. Actually the only know to me player beyond that time is Michel Plaitini. Other players that are known throughout the football world include Lilian Thuram, Thierry Henry, Marcel Desailly, Zinedine Zidane, Patrick Vieira, Didier Deschamps, Lizasazu, David Trezeguet, Emmanuelle Petit and Youri Djorkaeff. At the qualifying rounds they passed with 6 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss which does not say much for the team that was crowned world champion in 1998. On the UEFA European Football Championship listing France has 130 points with 73 wins, 33 draws and 24 losses.

Ukraine -> is one of the youngest teams in the tournament only founded in the 90’s (1991 to be specific). Not much to say since having only seen very few games played of this team in the last decade. Hopefully as a host country she will put up a good show and won’t be easily thrown out of the preliminary rounds. As one of the two host countries Ukraine passed by default the qualification rounds. On the UEFA European Football Championship listing Ukraine has 42 points with 16 wins, 13 draws and 13 losses.

Sweden -> made it through the qualifying rounds with 8 wins, 0 draws and 2 losses which makes her the best team in her group so far. The farthest Sweden has ever been in the Euro Cup was a fourt place in the semi-finals of 1992. She has reached better in the FIFA world cup and Olympic games but not the Euro Cup. The current roster has some formidable players that play in other European league teams other than the Swedish League; most noticeable are Andreas Isaksson, Olof Mellberg, Michael Lusting, Anders Svensson, Kim Kallstrom, Christian Whilhelmsson, Sebastian Larsson, Johan Elmander, Marcus Rosenberg and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. On the UEFA European Football Championship listing Sweden has 106 points with 52 wins, 25 draws and 29 losses.

The matches for Group D are:

11 June France – England 19:00 (CET +01:00)
11 June Ukraine – Sweden 21:45 (CET +01:00)

15 June Ukraine – France 19:00 (CET +01:00)
15 June Sweden – England 21:45 (CET +01:00)

19 June England – Ukraine 21:45 (CET +01:00)
19 June Sweden – France 21:45 (CET +01:00)

Tough to say who will pass but my guess is Sweden and England... At least I hope so!! XDDD

I know I am not biased at all... but countries I don’t like I don’t really follow!!! So, I guess that’s it...

Getting ready for opening game!!! ^^

Okay... Missed two days because of chores...

Officially unemployed... with a very hurt ego at the moment (mother complex) but will write all about it in another blog!!!

So... two more groups to analyze before tonight’s kick-off!!!

This group would be the second best after Group B if Italy could make a good game worth watching... Meh... after the 2000’s the Italian prestige has dropped considerably... But this year they seem to have turned the tables...

Vediamo che cosa puo fare la squadra Azzura!!! ^^

Group C -> Spain, Italy, Croatia and Ireland

Spain -> is the second team with most wins in the tournament having won the trophy twice in 1964 and 2008. Also she is the defending champion in this year’s Euro cup. Not much to show for in the past tournaments except a second place in 1984; but none the less a strong team with uniquely talented players. The Spanish football academy has produced some heavy names in the industry throughout the years, noticeably Estanislao Basora, Alfedo Di Stefano (saeta rubia), Emilio Butragueño, Andoni Zubizarreta, Abelardo, Miguel Ángel Nadal, Míchel Salgado, Agustín Aranzábal, Iván Helguera, Raúl, Gaizka Mendieta, Juan Carlos Valerón, Joan Capdevila, Carlos Marchena, Carles Puyol, Fernando Morientes, Raúl Bravo, Joaquín, Xavi etc. These past four years the Spanish team has excelled with a 35 undefeated match score from 2007 to 2009; also winning the FIFA world cup in 2010. Coach Clemente has done more than a good job harnessing all the individual talents he possesses. This year’s team flew right through the qualifying rounds undefeated with 8 wins, 0 draws and 0 losses. The gang of Iker Casillas with Raúl Albiol, Sergio Ramos, Álvaro Arbeloa, Andrés Iniesta, Xavi Hernández, Cesc Fàbregas, Xabi Alonso, David Silva and Fernando Torres are aiming to defend their champions position wining this year’s trophy too. On the UEFA European Football Championship listing Spain has 135 points with 85 wins, 25 draws and 25 losses.

Italy -> Finalmente e junto il momento da scrivere per I “Azzurri”. Four times world champions (second place in 1970 and 1994, third place in 1990 and a fourth place on 1978), this team has a HUGE history in the football industry. She has won the European cup once in 1968; also a second place in 2000 and two fourth places in 1980 and 1988. Although after the 2004 humiliation in Portugal the team has suffered from bad coaching and disputes within the team Italy is making a comeback this year with no losses in the qualifying rounds (8wins, 2 draws and 0 losses). Italy not only has produced some of this planets greatest players but is also known for her unique style of play, which is a match for the English strong style of play (catenaccio, although it is a tactical defensive play opposed to the strong offensive English play). Italy has one of the oldest teams in age average of the tournament, but that has only to do with the fact that highly experienced players have been called out for representing the team. Throughout Italy’s history in the football industry she has produced players with such high value and worth as no other team; only to list a few we have Raimundo "Mumo" Orsi, Angelo Schiavio, Giacomo Bulgarelli, Giovanni "Gianni" Rivera, Giacinto Facchetti, Luigi Riva, Roberto Boninsegna, Marco Tardelli, Antonio Cabrini, Paolo Rossi, Dino Zoff, Paolo Maldini, Carlo Ancelotti, Luigi De Agostini, Roberto Donadoni, Francesco Toldo, Alessandro Costacurta, Alessandro Nesta, Moreno Torricelli, Dino Baggio, Alessandro Del Piero, Roberto Di Matteo, Enrico Chiesa, Gianfranco Zola, Fabio Cannavaro, Filippo “Pipo” Inzaghi, Gianluca Pessotto, Luigi Di Biagio, Massimo Ambrosini, Gianluca Zambrotta, Francesco Totti, Mauro Camoranesi, Andrea Pirlo, Marco Materazzi etc. The current roster is has many talented young players and the veteran Gianluigi Buffon as the captain, promising to give us a good time watching – hopefully – such good Italian football. On the UEFA European Football Championship listing Italy has 125 points with 67 wins, 40 draws and 18 losses.

Croatia -> A young team in the tournament; with not much to offer yet other than two quarter-final qualifications. Unfortunately until Croatia’s Independence in the 90’s there was national team; all were represented by the SFR Yugoslavia. Before the 1940’s thought there was a national recognized Croatian team by FIFA. She passed through the qualifying rounds with 7 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses. I must say that I am not too familiar with most of Croatia’s players because I do not follow their league but there are a few from the current roster that play in big European clubs such as Vedran Ćorluka, Danijel Pranjić, Ivan Rakitić, Ognjen Vukojević, Luka Modrić, Darijo Srna, Tomislav Dujmović, Nikica Jelavić, Eduardo. On the UEFA European Football Championship listing Croatia has 63 points with 39 wins, 14 draws and 10 losses.

Ireland -> has been in the tournament since its inception although qualified only once in 1988 for the group stage. Apart from the players which all play for the English League, I have no knowledge of this team since I haven’t seen her on official tournaments. Noticeable players are Robbie Keane, Shay Given, John O’Shea, Richard Dunne, Glenn Whelan, Damien Duff and Kevin Doyle. On the UEFA European Football Championship listing Ireland has 112 points with 45 wins, 33 draws and 34 losses.

The matches for Group C are:

10 June Spain – Italy 18:00 (CET)
10 June Ireland – Croatia 20:45 (CET)

14 June Italy – Croatia 18:00 (CET)
14 June Spain – Ireland 20:45 (CET)

18 June Croatia – Spain 20:45 (CET)
18 June Italy – Ireland 20:45 (CET)

Spain and Italy will pass from this group... I will be shocked if any other team makes it!!!

UWAH... only five more hours before the kick-off... one more group to go...

So… I am a bit late in updating but I still have time to cover all four groups and add statistics too!!! ^^

This group is the most powerful and most difficult of all four.
Three of the four countries have produced some of the best players in the world roster...

My favorite from the group is Netherlands...

Actually the “Oranje” are my No1 from all other teams... Dutch have the best technique in football... maybe not naturally gifted players like Brazilians, Argentineans or any of the South American continent but they are “masters” when it comes to football because of the training they undergo... so no matter how talent you are if you don’t have technique you are simply just a wasted player!!! We all saw what happened two years ago in the world cup when Netherlands beat the “everyone” favorite Brazil with a score of 2-1 goals!!!

And let’s not forget Germany humiliating the other “everyone” favorite team of Argentina with a shocking – yet totally justifying – score of 4-0!!!!

So… let’s see briefly what this group has to offer for this tournament!!

Group B -> Germany, Netherlands, Denmark and Portugal

Germany -> Germany is the big time winner of this tournament having won the cup three times throughout the history of its foundation. Up until the unification of Germany the team was playing as “West Germany” and won the cup both 1972 and 1980. In 1996 she plays in that tournament in London as a unified team under “Germany” and wins the cup in the extra time favored by the “golden goal” rule that applied up to that time, beating the new Czeck Rep team – before they play as Czechoslovakia – scoring 2-1 goals! The “golden goal” rule was later banned from the FIFA and UEFA tournaments. Germany as a country has produced some of the best football players in the world, most have even taken part in the national team; anyone who loves football knows Helmut Schön, Franz Beckenbauer, Berti Vogts, Gerd Müller, Lothar Matthaüs, Oliver Khan, Michael Ballack, Jens Lehmann, Oliver Bierhoff, Jürgen Klinsmann, ect. This year’s team has passed through the qualifying rounds undefeated with 10 wins, 0 draws and 0 loses. With Joachim Löw as coach since 2008 after Klinsmann retired the team has done very well in the tournaments that followed, being a finalist in the Euro cup of the same year, two years later got the third place in the World cup 2010 and this year is aiming to win the Euro 2012. With Philipp Lahm, Per Mertesacker, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Lukas Podolski, Thomas Müller, Miroslav Klose and more on the current team it is certain that we will see them at the finals!! On the UEFA European Football Championship listing Germany has 126 points (the points are counted as Germany from 1996 and onwards) with 81 wins, 29 draws and 16 losses.

Netherlands -> Another big team with a heavy legacy in the world of football is Netherlands. Sooo… where to start!! This team has won the Euro cup once in 1988 with the fabulous team of Hans van Breukelen, Ronald Koeman, Aron Winter, John Bosman, Ruud Gullit, Marco van Basten, Frank Rijkaard etc. Before and after that Netherland has taken 3 third places in 1976, 1992 and 2000, also a fourth place in 2004. This team has a better record in the FIFA world cup standings but since I didn’t write anything about the other teams I won’t write anything for this team. This year they passed through the qualifying rounds with 9 wins, 0 draws and 1 loss. Netherlands has the technique in the world when it comes to football; they also have produced a large number of first class players like (all the above) Edwin van der Saar, Michael Reiziger, Clarence Seedorf, Jaap Stam, Ronald and Frank de Boer (twins), Edgar Davids, Patrick Kluivert, Dennis Bergkamp, Peter Hoekstra, Winston Bogarde, Jordi Cruijff (son of the one and only Johan Cruijff), Phillip Cocu, Ruud Hesp, Boudewijin Zenden, Marc Overmars. Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Pierre van Hooijdonk, Ruud van Nistelrooy etc. With this year’s roster they are surely to pass for a ticket to the finals but with Germany in the same group it is yet to be determined if she will be placed on the top or second stringer. The current team has a handful of super players with Maarten Stekelenburg as goalie, John Hetinga, Joris Mathijsen, Khalid Boulahrouz and Wilfred Bouma holding the defense line, Mark van Bommel, Nigel de Jong, Wesley Sneijder, Arjen Robben, Ibrahim Afellay and Rafael van der Vaart in the middle, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Dirk Kuyt and Robin Van Persie as their gunmen in the forward positions!! (Damn... not biased at all... I completely showed off the team!! XDDDDD Can’t help it though... my eyes sparkle when I see this team play!!) On the UEFA European Football Championship listing Netherland has 131 points with 84 wins, 22 draws and 25 losses.

Denmark -> the third kick-ass team of the group; this is yet another mass producing player country. The 1992 European champions, with a really great team at that time listing Peter Scheichel, Kent Nielsen, Lars Olsen, Henrik Andersen, John Jensen, Lars, Elstrup, Brian Laudrup, Henrik Larsen, Claus Christiansen and Peter Nielsen among others. Before that this team has seen a third place in 1984 and a fourth place in 1964, after the ’92 success though the team hasn’t been in her best form. They finished the qualifying rounds with 6 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss (their group had only 4 teams). This year’s roster other than Stephan Andersen, Lars Jacobsen, Daniel Agger, Christian Poulsenm Willian Kvist, , Dennis Rommedahl and Nicklas Bendtner has nothing much to offer. I really don’t see them passing through the heavy DUO (Germany and Netherlands) but I am sure they will not make it easy on the other teams to win either. On the UEFA European Football Championship listing Denmark has 129 points with 56 wins, 29 draws and 44 losses.

Portugal -> A good team with bad coaching the last few years. The highlight of the team is 2 semi-finals qualifications in 1984 and 2000, and a second place in 2004! The 2004 Euro cup was unbelievable; the first match to kick-off the tournament was on 12 June between Portugal and Greece, where the hosting team lost 2-1. The final match to close the tournament was also played between Portugal and Greece, where the later won “again” with a score of 0-1 goals. So basically the first match was also the last match of the Euro cup of 2004!!! Ironic, huh??? After that, Portugal hasn’t shown anything special as a team, apart from a few good players like Manuel Bento, Fernando Gomes, Rui Jordao, Antonio Sousa, Alvaro, Eduardo Luis, Vitor Baia, Jose Tavares, Joao Pinto, Rui Costa, Dimas, Luis Figo, Paulo Sousa, Sérgio Conceição, Abel Xavier, Pauleta, Carlos Secretario, Nuno Gomes, Paulo Ferreira, Nuno Valente, Simao, Cristiano Ronaldo, Deco, Helder Postiga, Petit ect. In my opinion, Scolari is a terrible coach, some of his decisions (especially during the FIFA world cup 2010) cost his team in qualifying for the next round in the tournaments! This year they barely passed the qualifying rounds with 5 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses. On the UEFA European Football Championship listing Portugal has 122 points with 66 wins, 28 draws and 28 losses.

The matches for Group B are:

9 June Netherlands – Denmark 19:00 (CET +01:00)
9 June Germany – Portugal 21:45 (CET +01:00)

13 June Denmark – Portugal 19:00 (CET +01:00)
13 June Netherlands – Germany 21:45 (CET +01:00)

17 June Portugal – Netherlands 21:45 (CET +01:00)
17 June Denmark – Germany 21:45 (CET +01:00)

Personally I think Germany and Netherlands will pass with flying colors to the second round, but who will rank first and who second???

Finally this entry ended… I have been basting my ass with it for the past 3 hours… Not easy trying to put a small significant amount of information out of vast history such as the two first teams!!! m(_._)m

So... 4 days before the starting matches...

I am very excited...

I took a look at the preliminary Groups... Very interesting line-ups!!!

Especially Group B ^^

Well, the first pair to kick off the tournament is one of the two hosts Poland vs Greece...

hehe...

But lets start with the Groups...

Group A -> Poland, Greece, Russia and Czeck Republic

Poland -> as one of the two host countries qualified by default... Don't have any statistics on official games throughout the year because of that... Well, the best that this team has ever made it was the round of 16 in 1960, after that the team was only in preliminary rounds... obviously not one of the favourites to qualify to the next round but as the hostess country will probably put up for a decent show... pretty much a balanced team with 93 points on the UEFA European Football Championship listing with 38 wins, 25 draws and 30 losses.

Greece -> finished the qualifying rounds in the first place of her group with 7 wins, 3 draws and 0 loses... followed by the second Croatia who we will see in Group C. Greece is clearly on a higher level than Poland but can disappoint you will the poor play the last few years. Respectfully this has changed in a way this year which means we will get to see a good game of them! As a team it has to show off for being in the group stage - final tournament twice in 1980 and 2008, and shocking first place winner in 2004!!! On the UEFA European Football Championship listing Greece has 114 points with 55 wins, 22 draws and 37 losses.

Russia -> Hmmm... what to say about this team other than they put up a very good fight in every game they play!! Basically most of Russia's highlights as a team are from 1960 up to 1992 as USSR!!! In 1960 USSR was the winner of the tournament and after that the team was a finalist 3 times in 1962, 1972 and 1988... there is also a third place play-off in 1968 to show for! For 1996 and onwards (after the separation of the USSR) we see Russia always present in the Group stage, with a semi-finals qualification in 2008!! Unfortunately players like goalie Lev Yasin and Igor Netto wont be seen in this years team... On the UEFA European Football Championship listing Russia has 63 points with 37 wins, 12 draws and 14 losses.
In this years qualifying rounds in November she played against Greece and the conclusion of the match was a draw. These two teams meet again in the preliminary rounds of the same Group for the last few years... it will be an interesting match to watch!!! ^^

Czeck Republic -> This is the best team of this Group... Again like Russia, this team has 2 third place play-off in 1960 and 1980 plus a winner's trophy in 1976 under the name of Czechoslovakia! After the break up of the two countries we see Czeck republic playing alone for the first time in 1996 where she reaches the final against Germany in London. Up until that year the term of the "Golden goal" applied to any team that scored in the extra time. We all remember the goal of Oliver Bierhoff that shuttered the hopes of most football lovers. Czeck Rep was the favourite team to win the tournament with there incredible gaming style but was robbed from the trophy by a lucky Germany that was really straggling to reach the goal post for the largest part of the game. Czeck Rep has bad luck when she plays in extra time because she was disqualified from the semi-finals in 2004 by the goal suffered from Greece 5 minutes before the second half of the extra time ended!! Be ready to see some awesome football!! On the UEFA European Football Championship listing this team has 67 points with 46 wins, 9 draws and 12 losses.

The matches for Group A are:

8 June Poland - Greece 18:00 (CET)
8 June Russia - Czeck Rep 20:45 (CET)

12 June Greece - Czeck Rep 18:00 (CET)
12 June Poland - Russia 20:45 (CET)

16 June Czeck Rep - Poland 20:45 (CET)
16 June Greece - Russia 20:45 (CET)

This covers the first group...

My predicament is that Russia and Greece will qualify!!!

Qualifying round:

Greece 7 wins, 3 draws and 0 losses
Czeck Rep 4 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses (2 less games since there were only 4 teams in the group)
Russia 7 wins, 2 draws and 1 losses

Goodnight... the rest tomorrow!!!

Song of the day...

Eros Ramazzotti - Se bastasse una canzone

I LOVE this song...

Dedicated to everyone who knows how to love and appreciate life and others!!
Just came back home from the office!!!

I cleaned my stuff out... ^^

After exactly 7 years and 6 months I was fired because there is no work and my boss couldn't afford to keep me any more...

I should be feeling sad or worried about what I will do since jobs in Greece are a very rare luxury, but, I am feeling fine...

One of my motto in life is... "Where a door closes another will open!", so I am pretty sure that something good will come out of this...

Now...

I have to decide what to do for the future...

No1 plan is to leave Greece... I am tired of Greeks and their so called "democracy"!!!

I want to make a new start somewhere else...

Malta is my number one choice since I am 1/3 Maltese!!! ^^

No2 plan... not yet specified!!! XDDDDDDDDDDDD

hehehehe... so far only plan No1 is in my mind...

Song of the day...

3rd one: (I'll shut up after this, it's a promise)(finally... I am tired... my braincells are not getting any younger!!!Garn)

Blood type O

People with blood type O usually have a big role in motivating the passion of their groups and stimulating the harmonious relationship among the group members (I won't comment this.. I hope we get a comment from someone else..)(As a leader I must say that she is an asset to my team's well being!!! I would hate to lose her... I would bribe her to stay, but lets keep that between us!!!).

They look like people who accept and do something calmly (that's true.. O_o)(ever heard the term "gullible"????).

They are smart to cover up their feelings, so they look like people who are always cheerful, peaceful, and do not have problem at all. But, if they cannot bear it, they will surely find out a place or someone to talk. (weird text I chose....)(true and not true!!! The challenge is to figure it out!!! XDDDDDDD)

They are kind (nya~)(too much for their own good, I would say),
often do kindness (nya nya~)(again too much for their own good),
and are not reluctant to get out of their money to other people (tell this to my wallet)(that is soooooooooooooooo true!!!!).

They are actually stubborn too and have their own opinions about anything in confidence, but they are also flexible and easily accept new things (how is it possible to combine these characteristics?)(not possible to combine... but since she in the ^%... she can bend the rules, right???).

No wonder that they lean to be influenced easily by other people (I do this when it comes to things I actually like..)(like the jrock list of hunks we mad??? Gosh that sounds so fan-girly like!!!! m(_._)m).

Look like people who are temperate and believable, but they also often make big mistakes because of their careless characteristic. (Noone is perfect!!!! Buuuuuuuut......----->)(common for the humans in this world... even Gods aren't perfect you know!!!)

However, their characteristics make them lovable (SEE?? I am LOVABLE!!!!! HAHAHAHHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHA. I see tomatoes and rotten vegetables flying towards me!!!!!! kyaaaaaaa )(She is lovable... she is like a BIG, HUGE cuddly Teddy Bear - she is tall okay!!!! (>_<) - but ONE hug is enough!!!! Now that I think about it she ALWAYS hugs me when we meet (O.O)).

hahahahahah.. It was fun, wasn't it?! (fun yes... tired too... me is off to rest after two hours of fooling around with this!!! A Goddess needs not to be troubled with common things... OH SHUT UP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its over!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will now take my narcissistic self and go rest!!! XDDDDDD

Swords are one of my BIG passions...

Even as a child I was amazed at the sight of a sword... especially Samurai swords... that was the first time I fell in love with Japan...

Samurai...

Anyway... I might talk about that in another entry...

Song of the day...

Hmmm... tough one!!! XDDDDD
