名古屋市有松は、絞り染めで有名です。 そこでは、毎年有松しぼり祭りが、盛大に行われす。
いろいろな出し物がありますが、なかでも、幼稚園児のダンスや合唱が大人気です。
市内の幼稚園の年長児達と、お母さん達が集まって自分達で絞り染めをしたT-シャツを着て歌ったり、踊ったりするのです、子供達も、世界にひとつのＴ－シャツだと、自慢げです。
江戸時代に地元で発明した絞り染めは、東海道を通る旅人や、参勤交代の大名の国元えの貴重
な、お土産となりました。
１９００年代には海外にも進出し、フランスやイギリスでも賞をとるまでになりました。
今では、１００種類以上の柄を有し、ジャパンブランドとして、世界の見本市に出品を目指して
います。

The town holds Arimatu Variegation Festival every year.
At the festival, 4 and 5year old children in the kindergartens of the city
perform dance wearing T-shirts that were variegated by themselves
with their mothers.
The children are proud of their own T-shirts saying "This is only one
T-shirt in the world."
By the waｙ, about 400 years ago, people in Arimatu village made variegation
towels and sold them as a souvenior to the travelers passing through
Tokaidou.
In 1900s it won the copper prize in France and the silver prize in England.
Now the variegation cloth has become as the specialty of Arimatu product
and there are over 100 patterns.
In the future Arimatu Variegation will become one of measure product as
a Japan brand.
