APPLE 1

Wozが創造した現代に通じる世界初の市販されたPersonal ComputerたるApple Computer 1（Apple1）の画像を何枚か載せておきます。ここで世界初と記述するとAltairはどうなのかと言われそうですが、あくまでも私の私感にすぎませんが、単体ではLEDがただ点滅するだけのマシンを果たして現代に通じるPersonal Computerの始祖とは思えないのです。ただしALTOの存在は無視できませんね。一応Apple1は市販されたマシンですので別物と考えたいです。

米国のApple1を研究するサイトからの受け売りになりますが、以下の内容は間違いなく事実だと思います。

「Apple-1の歴史的意義は非常に大きい。

今この記事をMacやiPhoneで読んでいる人はWozがApple ][ を作ったのはApple-1のほんの少しの成功の後、スティーブ・ジョブズに勧められたからだということを知っておくべきだ。

Apple-1がない＝APPLE社がない。

そしてWozはまだHPで働いていただろうし、

スティーブ・ジョブズの将来については空想するしかない。」

この文章を読んだ時、心が震えました。

更に加えるならば、アップル社が無いという事はMicrosoft社のBill GatesがMacOSをヒントにWindowsを作ることも無かったでしょうし、スマートフォンも当然無かったでしょう。まさに現代の我々一般人が使っているIT生活のコアとなる物がほとんどすべてこの地球に生まれなかったことになります。

I have included some images of the Apple Computer 1 (Apple1), the world's first commercially available personal computer, created by Woz.

If I describe it as the world's first personal computer here, you may ask what about the Altair, but it is just my personal opinion that a machine with only a blinking LED by itself cannot be regarded as the originator of the personal computers of the modern era.

However, the existence of ALTO cannot be ignored. The Apple 1 was a commercially available machine, so I would like to think of it as something else.
