Good morning.
私には、清美というバリ面白い同僚がいる。
I have this super cool colleague named Kiyomi.
清美さんは英語が、ペラペラだ。
Her English is perfect.
アメリカのユーモアの理解も完璧だ。
As is her grasp of American humor.
ほぼ毎日、英語のミームを送りあっている。。
Almost everyday, we send each other memes on Facebook.
は？ミームって、何？と聞きたいやろう？
I bet you are thinking, “So what exactly is a meme?”
ミーム（meme）とは、
SNSでよく見る、社会問題や課題になっている事を画像で表すものだ。
Basically they are internet commentary which engage people in conversation about social issues or current affairs.
色んな種類があるけど、ユーモアを使うミームが多い。
There are many different kinds of memes, but there are a lot which use humor.
コロナを乗り越えるために、笑いが大事だな、と思うけんさ。
If we are gonna overcome COVID-19, we have to laugh.
ミームは、あまり日本では知られていない。
Memes are not used very much in Japan.
もしかしたら、ユーモアが違うからかも。
Maybe because the humor is different.
けれど、ミームは、最強に良い英語の勉強方法だ。
But they are a great way to study English.
清美と、いつかミームを中心にした授業を作りたい。
One day, Kiyomi and I want to design a class based on memes.
