*カモメ Seagulls*
旅行中の一日、昼食を食べにStavangerの街にゆきました。その後、子供達がデザートが欲しいと。。（昼ごはんやし、マジで？）ま、今回だけは良しとしましょう、夏の旅行ですし、たまーの贅沢くらいはいいでしょう。ということで、2人のBoyに巨大アイスクリームを購入しました。
One dαy in our trip, we went to Stavanger city to have lunch. After that, the Boys really wanted to have a dessert.... (after lunch..., seriously?). But OK, we are on vacation, I can allow them to have a bit of luxury. I bought two huge ice creams for the boys.
でっかいでしょう？クリームの大きさがBoy2の頭の大きさくらいある。。
Big one! The cream part is about the size of his head..
Boyたちは駐車場へ戻る道中、歩きながら嬉々と食べ始めました。私はBoy2の横を歩いていたのですが、突然、突風を感じ、Boy2側に白いものが見えました。それは巨大なカモメがBoy2の頭の上を通り過ぎたのでした。Boy2を見ると、何かショックな様子で佇んでいて、彼のアイスにははっきりと削られたような跡が！そうです。このカモメ、Boy2が持って歩いているアイスクリームのクリーム部分を一口盗んでいったのです。この削られた後はカモメの嘴の跡だったのでした。
The boys were happily eating the huge ice cream while we were walking towards the car parking. I was walking next to Boy 2. Suddenly I felt wind close by to my head and saw something white next to me, on the side of Boy2. It was a big seagull flying above Boy2's head. When I looked at Boy2, he seemed shocked and there was a clear line on his big ice cream. Yes, the seagull had taken a bite out of Boy2's ice cream while he was holding it. The line was the trace of the beak of the seagull...
気を取り直して歩き出したBoy2。数分後でしょうか、今度は私の頭にガンっ！と衝撃が走り、その次の瞬間、Boy2のアイスクリームはカモメに弾かれ、地面に叩きつけられていました。そこにいたすべての鳥たちがあっという間にBoy2のアイスクリームに群がります。2秒もかからなかったと思います、Boy2のアイスクリームはコーンごと完全になくなっていました。コーンを包んでいた紙だけが地面に転がっていたのでした。地面にはクリームの跡さえなかったのです。
Boy2 pulled himself together, we started walking again. After a few minutes, I got a big hit on my head and at the next moment, Boy2's ice cream was slammed by a seagull and fell on the ground. All kinds of birds around there immediately gathered on Boy2's ice cream, and in 2 seconds, his ice cream was completely gone, including the cone. Only a piece of cone shaped paper was left on the ground. I didn't even see a trace of ice cream...
ショックすぎる。。。
shocking...
Boy2のショックは当然相当なものでした。新しいアイス買ってーとも言いませんでしたからね。この事件のせいで、Boy2はカモメを嫌いになったらしく（当然）それからもカモメを見るたびに文句たらたら。。
Boy2's shock was incredible, of course. He didn't even demand a new ice cream... But we noticed later on that he has developed a very negative attitude to seagulls.
*スズメバチ Wasps*
今年はスズメバチには良い夏だったようです。スズメバチたちには良い季節、ということが必ずしも我らにも良いというわけではないのです。
We are having a very good season for wasps. That means, it is good for the wasps. Not necessarily good for us.
夏休みが終わって学校が始まって数日した頃、Boy2の先生からメッセージが届きました。
One day after school started, we received a message from Boy2's school teacher.
「Boy2がスズメバチに手を刺された。」
"Boy2 was stung by a wasp on his hand."
帰宅して、Boy2の刺された手を見ると、パンのように腫れ上がっていました。
When I was back home and looked at his affected hand, his hand was like a loaf of bread.
右手が腫れて、ちょっと赤いのがわかるでしょうか？
Can you see the right hand is swollen and a bit red?
刺された場所は右手の人差し指と中指の間。。この腫れは5日間続き、痛みも伴ったそうです。
He was stung in between his index finger and the middle finger. The swelling continued about 5 days... with pain.
その手が腫れてる5日中の1日に嵐の日がありました。ものすごく風が強く、その強い風がBoy2の部屋の小さな窓（その窓の隣にスズメバチの巣がある）を開けてしまったようでした。でもそんなことに気づくわけもなく。Boy2の寝る時間になり、部屋に向かったBoy2がまた居間に降りてきて、10匹以上のスズメバチが部屋にいると訴えてきました。や、そんなわけないやろ。。。と最初は信じなかった私ですが、部屋に行ってみると、なんと10匹どころかもっと大量のスズメバチが！
During this 5 days, we had storm on one day. It was very windy outside, and the wind opened a small window in Boy2's room, close to a a wasp's nest outside. But we did not know. Boy2's sleeping time had come and he went to his room. He came down to the living room and said there were more than 10 wasps in his room. I didn't believe him in the beginning but when I went to his room, I saw really big number of wasps in his room...
電気の周りにある黒いものが見えますか？もしかしてスズメバチ、Boy2の部屋の電気のところに住み始めたのでは！？スズメバチはよっぽどBoy2が好きに違いない。。。その日は部屋の扉を閉め切り、すべての窓を全開にしていなくなることを願いました。
Can you see the black dots around his lamp? We were very worried that the wasp suddenly decided to live in his lamp.... Wasps really likes Boy2 in some way.... We closed his door and opened the windows and hoped they would go away...
幸運なことに、次の日にはほとんど全てがいなくなっていました。多分嵐で吹き飛ばされて入ってきただけだったのでしょう。でもBoy2のカモメとスズメバチに対する恐怖はしばらく続くんだろうなぁ。。
Fortunately, they went away mostly within the next day. But it will take a while before he can be relxed arounds wasps. Or seagulls....
