Ettringenは多くのクラックで有名なクライミングエリアです。このエリアはかつて玄武岩鉱山だったけど今は素晴らしいクライミングエリアに変換されました。鉱山が地表より少し下にあるため、クライミングエリアは非常に静かで穏やかです。また、下は涼しく、暖かい日には最適です。少しの雨も問題ありません。
Ettringenはトラッドクライミングができる方やクラッククライミングが好きな方に素敵ですが、ボルトやフェイスクライミングのルートも随分あります。このエリアはいくつかのサブエリアに分かれており、それぞれに独自のスタイルがあります。高い壁からボルダー、何でもあります。
私はクラックや繊細な足場が好きなのでEttringenが私には完璧なエリアです。いっぱいめっちゃいいラインがあるので全部プロジェクトするには一生が少なすぎるほど。ボルトなしでクライミングするのは少し怖いかもしれませんが、クラックが非常に平行なのでカムを配置するのは簡単です。また、しっかりとしたトップアンカーがあります。
近くの町、Mayen、もとても素敵です。私はセンターにあるアイスクリーム店をよく立ち寄ってます。曲がりくねった教会の塔も気に入っています。周辺にはいくつかお城もあるので、ぜひ訪れてみてください。
キャンプをするクライマーのほとんどはこのキャンプ場に行ってます。
Ettringen is a climbing area that is famous for its many cracks. This used to be a basalt mine but has now transformed into an incredible climbing area. The fact that the mines are a bit below surface, makes the climbing area very quiet and peaceful. It's also cooler down there, which is great for the warmer days. A little bit of rain also won't be a problem.
Ettringen is great if you can trad climb or like crack climbing but there are also a lot of routes with bolts and face climbing. The area is divided into quite a few sub areas with each their own styles of routes. This makes climbing here quite varied because there is lots to choose from, big walls to bouldery routes and big overhang to slabs. You can even just go bouldering in Kottenheim if you bring crashpads.
I love Ettringen because I like cracks and delicate footholds. There are many amazing lines to project my whole life probably. Climbing without bolts can be a bit scary but it's easier than other climbing areas because the cracks are very parallel so placing cams is easy. And there are solid top anchors, so that's a whole less hassle as well.
The nearby city of Mayen is also quite nice. I like the ice cream shop in the centre and the twisty church tower. There are also a few castles in the area to visit.
If you're planning to camp, camping Falkleymuhle is where most climbers pitch up their tents. It's a camping tucked away in a valley at around 12 minutes from both Ettringer Lay and Kottenheim.
