First Solar Inc., the world's largest thin-film solar company, will provide panels for a 130-megawatt project that Tenaska Inc. is developing in Southern California.
First Solar will be the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the Imperial Solar Energy Center South, Omaha, Nebraska-based Tenaska said today in a statement.
Electricity produced by the project in Imperial County will be sold under a 25-year contract to Sempra Energy utility San Diego Gas & Electric Co.
First Solar, of Tempe, Arizona, rose $1.23, or 1.7 percent, to $72.95 at 12:07 p.m. in Nasdaq Stock Market trading.
