国防・軍事も万事コンピューター制御で成り立っています。米国のペンタゴンが使う電子機器・機材（約３５億ドル分）の僅か２％が米国製で、それ以外はすべて外国製、つまりペンタゴンの監視下にないところで製造されたものです。製造過程で電子機器に仕組まれたら、「トロイの木馬」のように、機密情報が筒抜けになります。ソフトウエアも同様で、外国製ソフトウエアにどんなトリックが仕組まれているか見当もつきません。今まで米国では抜本的対策が講じられてこなかったそうで、今になって議会でも大問題になっているとか。

systems, the Pentagon now manufactures in secure facilities run by American
companies only about 2 percent of the more than $3.5 billion of integrated
circuits bought annually for use in military gear.
