Sense of monotony

Buddhist practitioners are fundamentally encouraged to lead a simple life, and fully dedicate themselves to their practice.
This is because, without such focus, life can pass by in the blink of an eye.
That said, some may find such a life of practice monotonous, leading to a sense of stagnation or routine.
There may even be those who become troubled by such feelings.
However, this is not something to worry about in essence.
The reason is that, even if one feels a sense of monotony, the practitioner’s progress in Buddhist practice is steadily moving forward.
For instance, aging happens gradually for everyone and often goes unnoticed in daily life. Yet, there comes a moment when one is confronted with visible signs of their own decline, making them suddenly aware of this reality.
Similarly, the merits of those dedicated to Buddhist practice accumulate gradually but steadily. When they unexpectedly encounter the moment of awakening, they will become aware of this truth.
Alternatively, they may witness someone else unexpectedly completing their Buddhist practice and attaining Buddhahood, only to realize— at that moment —the immense merits that individual had accumulated.
Thus, the most important thing is to walk the path correctly.
Conversely, it can be said that one must take care not to stray from or deviate off the Buddhist path.
When the moment of awakening arrives, any sense of monotony will vanish entirely.
At that time, the merits accumulated up to that point will be evaluated without delay.
Some will achieve Buddhahood brilliantly, while others may never attain awakening.
Ultimately, everything is a matter of individual responsibility.
