智慧を生じるということ
The arising of wisdom

The firmly established practitioner, having accumulated merits, encounters the conditions for enlightenment, giving rise to wisdom and ultimately attaining Buddhahood.

This is what happens at the moment of enlightenment (= liberation).

For details, I have written about my (= SRKW Buddha's) experience in the article dated June 22, 2023.

Now, let me provide a brief explanation of what it means to give rise to wisdom.

A practitioner may imagine something like the following when it comes to the arising of wisdom.
  • Knowing some absolute truth
  • Obtaining marvelous insights
  • Discovering hidden secrets of Buddhism
  • Finding answers to fundamental problems of humanity

However, wisdom is not such a thing.

'The arising of wisdom' is synonymous with 'being able to fully believe in the truth of Buddhism.'

In other words, it is the complete recognition of the miraculous/rare fact that Buddhas manifest in the world upon encountering the conditions for enlightenment, appearing in the form of the teachings (words) of the Dharma.

That person who achieves this is known as one who has generated wisdom.

And through this, they themselves become Buddhas.

This is nothing but the greatest mystery of Buddhism.

Furthermore, it is explained that deep faith in Buddhism is the foundation for the arising of wisdom, and this is the reason behind the above.
