物を欲しがるように求める

A person who seeks as if desiring things

When seeking Nirvana as if desiring material possessions, one cannot attain it.

Because enlightenment is an internal matter and seeking it externally does not lead to liberation.

Furthermore, enlightenment cannot be feigned by relying on memory.

Because enlightenment is the result of the cessation and extinction of this designation and form (nama-rupa), which is a mental phenomenon.

Therefore, even if false practitioners believe they have attained enlightenment themselves, sooner or later, they will come to realize that they have not actually attained enlightenment.

Now, why would a practitioner seek Nirvana as if desiring material possessions?

It boils down to the fact that he is immature (spiritually immature).

In this case, it resembles a young child wanting a toy that another child has, and also he lacks discernment.

In such a situation, he must wait for his own spiritual maturity to attain enlightenment (= liberation).

Furthermore, if it is pathological, then curing that illness becomes the priority.

In essence, Buddhism itself does not contain teachings to mature the immature.

And fools never attain enlightenment.

Therefore, the path of Buddhism is described as the path of the wise.
