I was back in basic training … advanced basic, it must have been, for I was at Camp Hale at one of those silly exercises where they throw snow down your neck to make a man of you.
私は、軍隊に戻っていました。 基礎訓練のキャンプでした。 いや、二次訓練のキャンプでした。 なぜなら私は、キャンプ・ヘイルに居たからでした。 新兵を一人前の兵士に仕立てるためと称して首筋に雪を突っ込む、馬鹿げた訓練をやっていたのでした。

I was having to climb the damnedest biggest mountain in all Colorado and it was all ice and I had no feet.
私は、コロラド州の中で一番大きな一番馬鹿げた山に登らなければなりませんでした。 全山雪と氷に閉ざされて、おまけに私は脚無しなのでした。

My no-feet wouldn't take me any farther and I fell down in the snow and it was icy warm and I did fall asleep while little Ricky wailed and begged me not to.
