First league brace for Raúl with Al-Sadd

Raúl González was the driving force for his Al-Sadd team's brilliant 2-5 away victory over Qatar S.C., managed by the Brazilian Sebastiao Lazzaroni. The Spanish player was on the pitch for the full 90 minutes of play despite the suffocating heat of over 36ºC.

Raúl, voted man of the match, scored his goals in the 13th and 55th minute, earned a penalty which the Senegalese player Niang put in the net and made an assist for the fourth of his team's goals.

That is how the former Real Madrid and Schalke 04 player made his goal-scoring debut in the Qatar League that began last week with a game against Al-Arabi in which, despite his not scoring, his team won 2-1.

The Al-Sadd number 7 had already scored his first goal for his team in a Cup match and these are his first in the League Championships. It is just over 20 years since Raúl donned a Real Madrid shirt for the first time during a youth team match.

On 13th May, Raúl signed a contract to play for two seasons with Al-Sadd, where he is again sporting a white shirt with his trademark number 7.

12:30に家を出て体育館に着いたのが13:55。

椅子の色は落ち着いたえんじと青のバルセロナカラー。
クッションもあってとても快適だし、アリーナが四角形ではなく丸みを帯びているのも観やすさに貢献している。
観客席の最前列からでもサイドラインまで10mくらい。
大阪は名古屋に次ぐクラブだけど、名古屋のようにプロ化したり、オーシャンアリーナのような専用体育館を建設するクラブの出現はいつになるだろう。

ボールボーイ(?)は高校生風の女の子たち。地元の高校の女子サッカー部の選手、とかだろうか。
慣れていないからかボール出しが遅くて焦れったかった。

前半開始直後に大阪に先制されるも、前半のうちに逆転し、後半は1失点に抑えて頂上決戦を制した。

観客数は3533人。

試合前の時点でビジャレアルは2位。5試合2失点で最少失点チームであった。ラス・パルマスのシャツは黄色（パンツは青色）なのでビジャレアルは黒色のアウェーユニフォームを着用した。セナが2つのPKを決めて2-2の引き分けに。ビジャレアルは6試合で4勝2分。首位のエルチェ、3位だったアルメリアも引き分けたため、自動昇格圏内の2位の座を守った。

ティエヴィ・ビフマという名前に聞き覚えがあるのに、フォリクラッセのクラブ紹介ページやWikipedia英語版のクラブページに載っていない。と思っていたら、エスパニョールからローン移籍している選手であった。2011年のコパ・カタルーニャ決勝・バルセロナ戦では（相手がリザーブ主体ながら）ハットトリックを達成しているし、同年12月17日のリーグ戦・ヒホン戦ではシーズン唯一となる得点を挙げている。

ラス・パルマスのユニフォーム胸部分には「La Caja」とある。Cajaは一般に貯蓄銀行（貯蓄金庫）と訳す。セグンダレベルになると民間企業ではなく貯蓄銀行や州政府など公的機関がスポンサーにつくことが多いけど、ビジャレアルのユニフォームにはいつになったらスポンサーロゴが入るのだろう。

陸上トラック併設のエスタディオ・デ・グラン・カナリアでは、2007年にスペイン代表対北アイルランド代表の試合（UEFA EURO 2008予選）が開催されたらしい。テネリフェの本拠地エスタディオ・エリオドロ・ロドリゲス・ロペスは球技専用みたい。

Spanish faith breaks down barriers

The Spanish national team suffered to get its win in Tbilisi. The winning goal did not arrive until the Boris Paichadze stadium clock in Tiflis struck the 86th minute. Alarm bells were ringing but Spain again scored at the most painful time for its opponents, the last five minutes of the match.

Of the 157 goals that La Roja has scored in the 64 matches that Del Bosque has been on the bench, 32 have come in the last 10 minutes – not counting the two scored during extra time – and, of those 32, 19 have been, as with Georgia, in the last five minutes.

With Iniesta's goal four minutes from the end of extra time in the World Cup final as a reference, that of Soldado against Georgia adds to the information on how Spain handles the end of close-run games.

It is no coincidence that the national team wins games when its opponents believe the miracle is in sight. There is nothing more exhausting in football than running after the ball. The best example of that was in Tbilisi, where Spain reached 80% ball possession.

Since Del Bosque became the national team coach, the minute in which his team has scored most goals, is the 90th. During his first game, on the 20th August 2008 in Denmark, Xabi Alonso scored a goal with the final play. Spain has scored goals in the last minute a total of six times.

"If Catalonia were independent one day, Barça would still play in the Spanish league. I have no doubt about it". Sandro Rosell, the FC Barcelona president, spoke categorically about this issue during a meeting with businesspeople at the Vallés Oriental delegation of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce.

Rosell believes that there is nothing to debate and it would be an open-and-shut case were such a situation to materialise. Barça would not break away from Spain's sporting system. "It would play (in Spain), just like Monaco does in France", the 'Azulgrana' supremo argued.

These comments make clear Rosell's stance with regards to one of the big question marks over Catalonia's bid for independence. Having attended the mass demonstration held on the streets of Barcelona this Tuesday – he did so with his family and not as a representative of the club – Rosell believes that the team would be best served by not cutting its ties with the Spanish football pyramid.

"Barça is an institution that cannot remain aloof from the reality of the country, but the club does not take a position on any demonstrations of a political nature. Any director who attends will do so in a personal capacity". These were the words of Carles Vilarrubí, the Barcelona vice-president, on the subject of Rosell's intention to go to Tuesday's protest.

Madrid will debut new green third strip against Sevilla

When Real Madrid kick off tomorrow night at the Sánchez Pizjuán in their fourth league game of the season it won't be in their traditional all white, but in their new third strip, in dark green, according to club kit supplier Adidas.

The collar, with a peak on the outside, but round inside, provides comfort and style. The shirt also has a logo commemorating the 110th anniversary of the founding of the club on the inside of the neck.

The shirt, which goes on sale next Monday, is made from Climacool, Adidas' exclusive fabric that allows athletes to control their body temperature, and aids perspiration through the use of technical textiles.

明日サンチェス・ピスフアンで行われるセビージャFC戦で、レアル・マドリードは伝統的な白色ではなく、レトロな深緑色のサードユニフォームを着用する。

Marca.comによると、1965年にカラカスで行われたリーベル・プレート戦で深緑色のユニフォームが一度だけ使用されているそうな。

Real Madrid brought in over 500 million euros in 2011/12

Real Madrid finished their financial year 2011/2012 (their year closes on 30 June) with total income of 514 million euros, 7% more than in the previous period. That's the highest figure for any sporting institution in the world, and takes the club through the 500 million euro barrier for the first time. Payments from members of the club, with membership fees and season tickets, represent 9.5% of the total (48.8 million). Barcelona have yet to report their income but had budgeted for 461 million euros of income. Over the past few years the two clubs have topped the earnings league of European clubs.

Earnings before interest, depreciation and taxes grew 1.9% to reach 153.9 million euros; however net profit fell to 24.2 million euros, 23.3% less than in the previous period. The change was due to an increase in costs related to, amongst other things: title bonuses, tax changes, provisions for risks arising from the economic situation, as well as higher depreciation costs on investments.

The club's debt was reduced in the period, by 26.5%, to reach 124.7 million euros, 45 million less than the end of 2010/2011.

The club have a fairly conservative forecast for this current year, expecting to grow income some 2 million euros to 516.6 million euros and net profit 0.2 million to 24.4 million euros.

2012年8月1日発表のベラルーシ代表メンバーは21人。その内訳は、国内組10人・国外組11人と拮抗している。国内組の最大勢力はBATEの6人で、その他にはディナモ・ミンスクが2人でシャフチョール・サリホルスクも2人。ベラルーシリーグはディナモ・ミンスク（1990年代の最強クラブ）とBATE（2000年代の最強クラブ）が優勝回数で他を圧倒しており、ディナモ・ミンスクが通期の獲得勝ち点最多、BATEが3位。そして2位に食い込んでいるのがシャフチョールらしい。国外組はロシアリーグが9人、チェコリーグとドイツリーグが1人ずつ。

It is unusual for a player's performance to attract as much attention as that of Beñat Extebarria after just three games with the national team. When Vincente Del Bosque reviewed the Euro 2012 preliminary stages, his was the first name that came up in conversation: "Beñat was a surprise because people didn't know him very well".

The Betis midfielder has notched up 225 minutes for Spain during the three matches he has played. He made his debut on 26th May, playing the second half of the St. Gallen friendly against Serbia. Four days later, he played 90 minutes against South Korea and, again played an entire match last Friday in the game against Saudi Arabia.

Since Del Bosque became the Spanish national team coach, 27 footballers have made their debut with La Roja. Only Gerard Piqué, who has played the fourth most minutes during the Salamancan coach's era, played more than Beñat in his first three appearances. Piqué played all 90 minutes of his first 10 games with Spain.

Among the debutants, after Piqué's 270 minutes in his first three matches, comes Beñat's 225 minutes. Busquets was only on the pitch for 70 minutes during his first three games.

Spain corners the market on Guinness records

The Spanish National team's road to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil starts in Tbilisi. There's no tournament in which Spain feels more comfortable than when it's playing to qualify for the World Cup. 'La Roja', playing Georgia for the first time in its long history hopes to reach the milestone of 100 World Cup qualification games. It played its first on 11th March 1934, beating Portugal in a high scoring 9-0 game in Madrid, with five goals from Lángara.

Spain has made qualification for major tournaments a breeding ground for records and has been shattering them since it won the European Championships in 2008. 'La Roja' has won 22 consecutive qualification matches and has long overtaken the previous record of 15, held by the Czech Republic.

Those numbers are even more impressive if only talking about World Cup qualification matches. If Spain qualifies for Brazil, it'll be the tenth consecutive World Cup it competes in. Spain's unbeaten run in World Cup qualification matches stretches back to 45 games. Their last defeat dates back to 31st March 1993, when Clemente's men lost in Denmark (1-0, Flemming Povlsen).

The value of that 45 game unbeaten run is even more impressive if compared with other big national teams. France and the Netherlands currently lie behind Spain, each with 22 consecutive unbeaten World Cup qualifiers, followed by Italy (17) and Germany (12). On the other side of the Atlantic, Argentina has only been undefeated for three games since its last defeat, Mexico totals eight, Uruguay seven and Brazil lost against Bolivia in its final qualifier on the Road to South Africa 2010.

There are only three national teams that have never lost a World Cup qualifier at home. One of these is Spain (49 games played, 42 wins and only 7 draws). The other two are Brazil (46) and Italy (44).

Spain's strength at home also comes from the minutes it has played without conceding a goal. The last team to score a goal against 'La Roja' in Spain during a World Cup qualifying campaign was Slovakia in the play-offs that qualified Spain for the World Cup in Germany. We're talking about November 2005. Seven years ago. That was at the Vicente Calderón, the same stadium that will host Spain’s first home qualification match on the road to Brazil 2014 (16th October against France). During qualification for South Africa 2010, Spain didn't concede a single goal in the five games it played on home soil.
