Today, I would like to introduce a website which provided me a great opportunity to volunteer in Goa.
今日は、私がゴアでボランティアするきっかけとなったウェブサイトをご紹介したいと思います。
The name of website is “WorkAway” .
そのウェブサイトの名前は、“ワーク・アウェイ ”と言います。
This website provide opportunities to meet local people and exchange your work and accomodation & food.
このウェブサイトは、旅先で現地の人と出会い、お仕事を手伝う代わりに宿と食事を提供してもらう機会を提供しています。
Basically it has a list of hosts all over the world who are welcoming travellers and willing to provide food and place to stay.
基本的に、このウェブサイト上には、旅行者を受け入れ、宿と食事を提供する意思のある、世界中のホスト（受け入れ先）のリストが載っています。
If you want to use this website as a traveller, you need to resister on this website which cost a bit amount of money.
もし、このウェブサイトを旅行者として利用したい場合、少々お金がかかりますが、まずサイトに登録します。
Then you can find out a host in a place you are going to visit.
そして、ご自身が旅行する予定の場所にホストがいるかどうかを見つけます。
There are also many different types of works such as taking care of hourses in hourse farm in Switzerland or building an eco village in India.
また、様々な仕事の種類があり、例えば、スイスの農場で馬の世話をしたり、インドでエコビレッジの建設を手伝ったりするお仕事などが載っています。
Each host has minimum expectation of work per day, usually in between 3 to 5 hours per day.
それぞれのホストが 1 日の最低限の労働時間の目安を持っていますが、だいたい 1 日 3 時間から 5 時間くらいです。
So if you are happy with the work, you can contact to them through the website.
そして、その仕事内容に満足であれば、このウェブサイトを通してホストにコンタクトを取ることができます。
There is basically no money exchange between hosts and travellers.
基本的には、ホストと旅行者の間でお金のやり取りは行われません。
So, hosts can get help from travellers for free and travellers can travel by spending minimum amount of money.
なので、ホストは旅行者から無料で手伝ってもらえ、旅行者は最低限のお金で旅行ができるのです。
In my case, I was finding out a host in Goa in South India.
私の場合、私は南インドのゴアでホストを探していました。
Since I was interested in eco actions, alternative education and music, I found an eco and art space, called Saraya in North Goa.
私はエコな活動や、オルタナティブ教育、音楽に興味があったので、ノース・ゴアにあるサラヤというエコ＆アートスペースを見つけました。
They provide a space to stay and three meals and chai, in exchange of 4 hours works in their space.
サラヤは、宿と 3 食の食事とチャイを提供する代わりに、旅行者に 1 日最低４時間お手伝いしてもらうことを条件にしていました。
The website also shows reviews of both hosts and travellers who visited and volunteered at each hosts.
ウェブサイトには、ホストと各ホストを訪れ、ボランティアした旅行者のレビューが載せられています。
Saraya had 100% satisfaction level and many travellers left positive comments.
サラヤは、満足度が 100% で、多くの旅行者がとても好意的なメッセージを残していました。
So I have decided to volunteer there.
なので、そこでボランティアをすることに決めたのです。
First of all, I stayed there for two weeks.
最初に、私はそこに 2 週間ほど滞在していました。
They have quite a lot of projects including an organic restraurant, eco village styled accomodation, a house-building project with home schooling kids, and various workshops.
サラヤにはたくさんのプロジェクトがあり、オーガニック・レストランから、エコビレッジのような宿、ホームスクーリングの子供たちと家を建てるプロジェクトから、様々なワークショップの企画など、本当にたくさんの仕事がありました。

During my stay, I sometimes worked at the organic restraurant, or painting mud houses and tree houses.
私が滞在していた間、時々、オーガニック・レストランで働いたり、ツリーハウスや土壁でできた家の塗装を手伝ったりしました。

I also worked with home schooling kids to build a mud house with recycled beer bottles, and participated in various workshops.
またある時は、ホームスクーリングの子供たちとリサイクルされた空きビンで土壁の家を作ったり、ある時は様々なワークショップに参加したりしていました。
We also made a fire brick pizza oven and I helped them from the beginning of construction.
私たちは、防火レンガでできたピザオーブンを作りましたが、私は最初から最後までその建築に携わることができました。
At the same time, I really enjoyed working with many volunteers from Germany, France, Hungary, Bombey, and New Zealand.
同時に、ドイツ、フランス、ハンガリー、ムンバイ、ニュージーランドから来た他のボランティアの人たちを共に働くのがとても楽しかったです。
For example, I met a German lady who has been traveling the world for last 6 years.
例えば、過去 6 年間（故郷に戻ることなく）世界中を旅しているドイツ人女性と出会うことができました。
By working, chatting and living with her, I witnessed a different kind of value and traveling-based life style she is having.
彼女と共に働き、お話をし、共に生活することで、彼女の持つ全く異なった価値観や、旅行を生活の中心に置いたライフスタイルを目の当たりにすることができました。
I also witnessed many different definitions of work and life by meeting people from around the world.
彼女だけでなく、世界中から来た人々に出会うことで、仕事や生活に対する異なる定義を目の当たりにすることができました。
This is quite a priceless experience and I would strongly recommend you to try this exchange program.
この経験は本当にプライスレス（お金では買えないもの）なので、皆さんにも是非この交流プログラムに参加してみることを強くお勧めしたいと思います。
