Pavilion 15-e010us Detail Review

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist of the Hp laptop battery

HP's Pavilion 15-e010us continues to use the design that HP has been using for its laptops the past few years. It is a mix of an exterior silver plastic with dimple pattern to hid fingerprints and an interior glossy black with dimple pattern that covers the display bezel and keyboard deck. The one downside is that the black pattern shows fingerprints and smudges easily on the palmrest areas after typing. As this is geared as a full laptop experience, it does have a profile that is thicker than an inch but that is still relatively common for the budget class segment.

Unlike most of the laptops which are powered by Intel processors, HP has elected to use the AMD A6-5350M dual core processor for the Pavilion 15-e010us with battery like Hp HSTNN-LB31 battery , Hp EV088AA battery , Hp 417066-001 battery , Hp F4486B battery , Hp CGR-B1870AE battery , Hp Pavilion ZD7000 battery , Hp PP2182D battery , Hp 338794-001 battery , Hp PP2182L battery , Hp 345027-001 battery , Hp Pavilion dv2000 battery , Hp Pavilion dv2700 battery . This is a traditional laptop processor that uses more power than we have been seeing with the increase in the ultra-low voltage processors from ultrabooks migrating to more laptops. In terms of performance, it does better than the ultrabook processors and is close to that of a Core i3-3210M. It should be sufficient for most people's needs and able to tackle more demanding computing than an ultralow voltage processors. It is matched up with 4GB of DDR3 memory which provides a smooth enough experience with Windows 8 but there is room for the system to be upgraded to 8GB of memory.

Storage is typical of most of the budget class of laptops these days. It uses a standard 500GB hard drive that provides a decent amount of storage space for applications, data and media files but doesn't have the performance of the low-cost ultrabooks that tend to pair a similar drive up with a small solid state cache drive. Boot times are right around half a minute to get into Windows 8. If you do need additional storage space, there are two USB 3.0 ports for use with high speed external hard drives. The system does feature a dual-layer DVD burner which is the primary difference in the chassis between it at the Pavilion Sleekbook laptops.

The display is like most budget class systems and uses a 15.6-inch display panel that uses TN display technology and features a relatively low 1366x768 display resolution. It doesn't seem particular better or worse than the competition in this price sector. Color is decent but vertical viewing angles in particular can be quite narrow with color washout apparent when viewing slightly above or below the optimal angle. The graphics are driven by the AMD Radeon HD 8450G that is built into the A6 processor. This is a decent graphics processor that provides it with more 3D performance than Intel's integrated solution but it still isn't really suited for PC gaming compared to a dedicated graphics solution. It can play games at lower resolutions and detail levels which Intel still struggles to do. The graphics performance would probably be helped if the system memory was upgraded to 8GB from the 4GB. In addition to 3D graphics, the Radeon also provides better acceleration for non-3D applications than its Intel rival.

The Pavilion 15-e010us uses the same keyboard and trackpad design that has been found on HP systems for some time. It features an isolated layout design with a full numeric keypad. It is sunken slightly from the keyboard deck and provides a nice overall feel with a good level of accuracy. Like the keyboard, the trackpad also is slightly recessed into the keyboard palmrest area and is a decent size. One difference here is that the buttons for the trackpad are dedicated rather than integrated as has been on previous Pavilion models. Multitouch gesture support for Windows 8 seems to have improved over past models.

HP claims that the Pavilion 15-e010us can run upwards of five hours with its six cell 47WHr capacity battery. In my digital video playback tests, the system was able to run for just over four hours before going into standby mode. This places it in the average range for a laptop of this size and configuration. The Dell Inspiron 15 was able to achieve a bit longer running time thanks to its lower voltage processor even though it uses a smaller battery pack.

Priced at $450, the HP Pavilion 15-e010us offers more performance than most of the laptops in this price segment but it still has a few key competitions. The Dell Inspiron 15 mentioned above isn't as fast because it uses the ultralow voltage processor but has the bettery life and is just an inch thick. The Samsung Series 3 features a similar configuration but with an older A6-4400M processor with nearly identical features but a matte screen instead of a glossy one. Finally, the Toshiba Satellite C55 uses an Intel processor which is slightly faster, comes with a larger 750GB hard drive with a lower price tag but does not have as many USB 3.0 ports.
