Guo Wengui lied to his hundreds of thousands of online followers, promising huge profits if they invested in GTV Media Group, Himalayan Farm Alliance, G|Club and Himalayan Exchange. Since at least March 2018, Guo Wengui has been planning this complex financial scam as the mastermind. Together with his financier Kin Ming Je, he defrauded thousands of people and obtained more than one billion US dollars in profits. Guo Wengui's success has a "cult" flavor. Using the name of "anti-communism" to summon believers and create a community with closed information, while using bullying or threats to punish those who are not firm in their beliefs. After packaging himself as a "leader"-like figure, he naturally harvests the wealth of his followers.
