“Is information technology changing news media for the better?”
Today, the improvement of technology is overwhelming in variety of fields, I am sure this is changing news media for the better. There are three reasons why I think so.
First reason is the speed. The technology made the spread speed of information faster and faster. In the past, people talk and tell information other people. I guess it is difficult to tell whether the information is true or false. Lately, people began to use printing. Thanks to that, people can get the exactly the same information as the original. Then, we started to use the Internet. By using it, we can get a lot of information in very short time. The technology will make this process even faster in the future. Thinking about creating the content of the news, In the past, people needed to memorize, write down or type. Now, we can use the voice typing, it makes the typing faster, another faster way will be invented in the future. At the same time, now we started to be able to use 5G, by using these new technology, we can get or share huge amount of data immediately.
Second reason is the reliability. As I mentioned above, in the past, it was very difficult to tell whether the information is correct or not. But thanks to the technology, we will be able to trust the news information. Today, sometimes people see some fake news and get panic, but I guess a new technology will detect these and eliminate from the internet, or at least we will be able to check the correct information and spread it. Fake news are very bad. Maybe the person who post a lie on SNS is just having fun, or in serious cases, a group post them to make people fear. We should prevent these behavior.
Third reason is the screening function. Thanks to the development of AI, it will choose news for people. In other words, people can get the exact information they want in a perfect timing. Today, it is almost impossible to catch up all news around the world. In this situation, the screening service is very important to reduce the additional time for getting daily information.
For these three reasons, technology helps changing news media in a good way. I am very interested in what happens next.
