アメリカのメタルコアバンドWe Came as Romansの、自身のバンド名を冠した同名アルバムに収録されている一曲。このアルバムはバンド名がそのまま名づけられている通り、当初は彼ら自身も最高傑作だと考えていたものでした。
しかし後にボーカルのカイル・パヴォノフはこのアルバムを失敗だったと振り返ります。メタルコアである彼らはカイルのクリアボーカルとデビットのスクリーモ的なボーカルとの掛け合いで人気を博したバンドであり、ハード調の曲が大半を占めます。その中において本楽曲はやや毛色の違う美メロ系の要素が強く、The UsedのBlue and Yellow のような立ち位置な気がします。この曲についてどなたかがブログで、「やり尽くしたような感じで心配になった」というような趣旨のことを書かれていたのを憶えています。カイルや当時の彼らが何を考えていたのかについては、次回の記事で触れようかと思います。

曲についての話は最初の方でしてしまったので、The UsedのBlue and Yellowを貼っておきます。スクリーモというスクリーム＋エモのジャンルではかなり有名所の彼らですが、Blue and Yellowではほとんど叫んでいません。でもそれだけに少しだけ叫ぶ箇所が際立っていて良かったりします。

※直訳すると「残りの人生の前に全てを焼き尽くす」的な意味になるはずなのですが、ちょっとどう訳したものなのか困りました。難しくてよく分かりません。
ちなみに、「burn」にはやり直す、的な意味もあるらしいです。
