スコットランドの大物ロックバンド、Snow Patrolによる７年ぶりの新作Wildnessの収録曲。バンドが長い沈黙期間に入ったのはフロントマンのギャリー・ライトボディが鬱やアルコール依存症に苦しめられていたためらしいのですが、この曲はそうした経験を表したような内容となっています。

ボーカルがだいぶイメチェンしたSnow Patrol。日本ではテラスハウスに使われたChasing Carsが有名なのかな。彼らの曲で私が一番好きなのは、Run。

僕らは最後まで走り続けるんだ
たとえ僕の声が届かなくても
僕はずっと愛しい君のそばにいる
切なげな曲調の中に力強さも感じられて大好きです。
さて、Don't give inの歌詞中にはlive foreverという単語が登場します。スコットランド出身の彼らはOasisのカバーも何度か披露しており、少なからず意識している部分もあるのではないでしょうか。

「fall on one's sword」で自殺、自刃の意味。
「with the way things were」
流れ、ルール。以降の「But this is all on the wings of others（他者の翼に乗る）」はこれを受けていると思われるため、比喩的なものか。「fall in love」を「愛に落ちる、恋する」と訳すとすっきりしないので意訳しました。
